Mafia IV story idea

Note: The particularly important details and music artist names are in bold text. Licensed music track names are in italics.
The year is 1973, five years after the events of the Mafia III, and 22 years since Vito Scaletta’s seen or heard from his old friend Joe Barbaro. The canon ending of Mafia III with this Mafia IV story is Vito taking over the city after Lincoln skipped town, however Cassandra and Burke are left alive and loyal to both Vito and Lincoln still. Burke was able to survive his liver cancer by getting a black market liver transplant in Mexico, like he did in his ending, except with Vito running the city. On Vito and Lincoln’s behalf, Burke and Cassandra agree to stay behind in New Bordeaux and keep the city locked down, incase Leo Galante and the Commission try anything.
The beginning cutscene is Vito answering his telephone after getting up in the morning in his new penthouse, on the top floor of the New Bordeaux casino he finished that was once Sal Marcano's, and grabbing a cup of coffee. It's Alma with some urgent news. Lincoln Clay came down to the cigar warehouse to visit her after 5 years of silence, and he has big news.
Joe is alive in Empire Bay and has been this entire time. However, as punishment for his actions, he's become Leo Galante's personal driver against his will and is forbidden from contacting Vito ever again, or else him and Vito will be killed. Alma then tells Vito to meet Lincoln at the airport to learn more, as he's already there awaiting Vito's arrival. When they're away from anyone who could listen in on their conversation, Lincoln tells Vito he has a friend named John Donovan he's going to introduce him to, hiding in the outskirts of Empire Bay, ready to help Vito and Lincoln with their new mission
Vito gets dressed in one of his signature trench coats with a suit and tie, ready to rain down hell on the Vinci crime family and their allies, and finally be reunited with his lifelong friend he previously thought was dead, Joe Barbaro.
Here is my idea for the kill list, all related to the Commission in Empire Bay and their allies.
I'm thinking Vito and Joe work with Lincoln Clay and John Donovan to split up Empire Bay and distribute territory to three other factions not unlike what Lincoln did with New Bordeaux. This time though, this is a much larger city in a much, much different part of the United States. The empire building mechanics would be a lot smoother, more robust, and streamlined compared to Mafia III. They would work similarly a more modernized version of how the hit city sandbox game Scarface: The World Is Yours handled it's empire building and management mechanics, minus the whole switching to other characters lower on the ladder to do your bidding. This would be ideal for a story rich organized crime game in my opinion. Here are my ideas for those factions, all close allies of the up and coming Scaletta crime family.
The Cuban mob led by Alma Diaz. Vito goes way back with Alma, and she does not hesitate to answer him and Lincoln's calls to save Joe's life and royally fuck both Leo Galante and the Vinci family.
Conti crime family, led by Enzo Conti. This Conti crime family formed sometime in late 1968, months after Lincoln helped Enzo flee New Bordeaux and drop off of Sal Marcano's radar. It turns out he fled north to Empire Bay and finally formed his own family, having more than enough years of experience in the underworld to handle the job. Lincoln's tight with him and manages to recruit him to Vito and Joe's cause.
The Yakuza, based out of Empire Bay's Japantown. Longtime sworn enemies of the Empire Bay Triads, with bad blood going back decades. They would greatly enjoy seeing Mr. Chu and his son's heads mounted on pikes, along with whacking everyone who's ever supported their organization. You don't know them well, and they're known to be very unpredictable and ruthless. Use these traits to your advantage when taking on the Commission of Empire Bay and their friends.
I should mention as expected, this entire 1973 section where you play as Vito is much shorter than Mafia III. Vito's takeover is shown much more quickly over time than Lincoln's, and there's time skips during it, to keep it short and sweet, and to show onscreen only what's important. There is also no option for your underbosses to betray you, as to reduce confusion and keep the story consistently the same each playthrough, like the first two Mafia games.
However, unlike Mafia III, after all of these tasks are completed and every single assassination target on Vito’s kill list is dealt with, the game does not end. In fact, it's not even anywhere near close to being over yet. Vito's 1973 section was merely the beginning act. It was really a lead up to an entirely new Mafia story, centering around a newcomer to the American mob. Fast forward two years following Vito’s rampage that led to him taking over Empire Bay and the Commission, in the year 1975 him and Joe now rule Empire Bay, with Vito as the Don of the Scaletta Crime Family, and Joe working as his loyal underboss. You play the rest of the game as a young up and coming soldato named Louis in his 20’s, who’s a rising star in Vito’s organization. Do right by Mr. Scaletta and Mr. Barbaro, understand kid?
My basic idea for the character and his backstory is that he's a young Italian-Canadian mobster from Toronto, Ontario, or whatever Mafia's equivalent of it could be called. Let's call him Louis DeSimone. His family hails from Tuscany in Italy and moved to Toronto, Ontario in 1939, shortly after World War II broke out in Europe. Louis DeSimone was born in July 1952 in Toronto, and was raised in Toronto's Little Italy. Being northern Italian and hailing from Tuscany, Louis has blond hair and green eyes, making him visually very distinct from past series protagonists, who were all dark haired brunets with brown eyes. Louis fled south to Empire Bay when the feds started cracking down on his old family and put his boss in prison, and he ended up finding a new home with the Scaletta crime family. The first few missions playing as Louis DeSimone involve shooting your away out of an arrest by a Toronto Police Service SWAT team in Toronto in December 1974, seeing the rest of the members of your old crime family either get arrested or shot in front of you as you make your escape. You spend the next two missions fleeing Ontario through Quebec and upstate New York, before finally arriving in Empire Bay in early 1975, late January to be exact. Winter is in full force with snow everywhere, Louis' arrival to Empire Bay for the first time in his life mirroring Vito's return to Empire Bay in 1945 30 years earlier, except under far different much more dire circumstances. Louis' older brother and his father, both capos in his old crime family in Toronto, are shown to be arrested by the TPS SWAT team in his first mission, the same one that attempted to gun him down when he resisted arrested. Louis knows someone had to have ratted out his old crime family, and he wants to find out who someday. The thing is though, he doesn't just want to kill them. He wants to get out of them why they did it before he kills them. More than anything else, he just wants to find out why his crime family was betrayed and served up to the feds on a silver platter, having most of his biological family sent to prison in the process. He’s out to uncover the mystery of why his family fell apart, and he’s more than willing to help people like Don Vito Scaletta and his underboss Joe Barbaro to eventually get the answers he seeks. In the end, he’s not even after revenge primarily, more than that, he wants answers and information regarding the fare of his old crime family, and wants to know why his family fell apart. I came up with the idea for this character because I figured that playing as a fugitive from the law made sense for the mob life, and I'm surprised we haven't had a fugitive protagonist in the Mafia series yet.
In the 1975 chapters while playing as Louis, the Watergate scandal, President Richard Nixon’s resignation, and the official end to the Vietnam War are all discussed on the in-game radio during news segments. In the last 1979 chapter, the beginning of the Soviet-Afghan War is also the subject of a news segment on the radio.
The story eventually transitions into the 1980's as years pass, with the scenery, cars, and music changing accordingly, and historical events of the time discussed in the game. In the 1989 section of the game, the murder of the infamous former Sinclair Parish Sheriff Walter “Slim” Beaumont is mentioned on the in-game radio, as just over 21 years ago Slim and his corruption ring were the top headline of national news. the time the game ends, it's 1992, and significant historical events from the past few years at the time that are covered on the radio in-game include anything from the fall of the Berlin Wall, the Gulf War, the collapse of the Soviet Union, to the 1992 L.A. riots. The rise of the internet and home computers are briefly touched upon during news segments on the in-game radio during the early 1990's section of the story, but not greatly delved into given their relative infancy in that time period. During this entire 1975-1992 stretch of the story, Vito is no longer playable, and Don Scaletta takes a backseat in the story as a main supporting character, similar to Don Salieri throughout Mafia: Definitive Edition. You now play as the Italian-Canadian Scaletta family soldato Louis DeSimone, who is later promoted to being a capo in 1985. At the end of the game in 1992, Louis is promoted to Consigliere of the Scaletta crime family, and it’s revealed in the epilogue that he became the don of the family in 2006 at the age of 54, and his now released from prison older brother serving as his underboss, and and Enzo Conti’s grandson Giovanni Conti serving as consigliere, taking over from Louis’ previous position which before that belonged to his father and Enzo’s only son, Lorenzo Conti from 1973-1992. It is worth noting that unlike Don Salieri, Don Scaletta has much more integrity, and has more genuine loyalty for his men and his associates. If you've beaten Mafia 1 or Mafia: Definitive Edition, you'll know this is something Salieri lacked in the end. Over time, Louis also goes from having a strictly business relationship with Vito and Joe, to bonding with them and becoming a genuinely close friend and trusted member of the family, seeing Vito as something of a second father, and coming to see Joe as the fun uncle he never had. Another major character development theme is Louis DeSimone adapting and assimilating into Italian-American culture in his new home in the Northeastern US, it seeming like something new mixed with the familiar Italian-Canadian culture he was raised in back in Ontario just north of the border.
The game will include a number of hit music from the 70’s that played on the radio back then, such as Bobby Womack’s Across 110th Street and Tony Christie’s (Is This the Way to) Amarillo, The Grateful Dead's Casey Jones and at least a few songs by the then new American rock band Cheap Trick, as well as popular songs from the 1960’s people still listened to at the time, such as Sam the Sham and the PharaohsWooly Bully, King Crimson’s 21st Century Schizoid Man, Zager and Evans' In the Year 2525, The Zombies' Time of the Season, and Nancy Sinatra’s These Boots Are Made for Walkin'. When you progress through the game, especially after you switch to playing as Louis DeAngelo for the rest of the story, years change, and the music changes. Different songs start playing on the radio, such as Sylvester's You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real), Randy Crawford's Street Life, and The Village People's Y.M.C.A., Cheryl Lynn's Got to Be Real, Gloria Gaynor's I Will Survive, and the Bee Gees' Stayin' Alive start playing in the 1979 portion of the game. After you've completed the 1975 section of the game, Foghat's Slow Ride starts playing on the radio. Starting in the 1977 section of the game, Cheap Trick's I Want You to Want Me and Heart's Barracuda start playing on the radio. In the 1980's portion of the game, Thomas Dolby's songs Hyperactive! and She Blinded Me with Science, in addition to Night Ranger's Sister Christian also start playing on the radio. If Hangar 13 can afford the licenses, I also think a few Michael Jackson and Madonna songs should definitely be on the radio during the 1980's portion of the story, given the immense popularity and regular radio airtime those two had in that decade. If this ended up being possible, I imagine that Michael Jackson's Smooth Criminal, Beat It, Bad, and Billie Jean being on the radio in the 80's sections would be a must, Smooth Criminal especially because of how well it suits the series. Madonna's Lucky Star, Burning Up, Like a Virgin, and Borderline would also be perfect for the 80's portion of the game to me. Also mentioned by NPCs and civilians in the game are topical events of the time period, such as the release of the groundbreaking 1973 horror film The Exorcist at the end of Vito's playable portion of the game.
Other music of the 1980's segment when playing as Louis DeAngelo for the remainder of the game includes hits of the era such as Joe Jackson's Steppin' Out, The Buggles' Video Killed The Radio Star, Corey Hart's Sunglasses at Night, Laura Branigan's Self Control and Gloria, The Weather Girls' It's Raining Men, A-ha’s Take On Me, Men at Work's Down Under, Kim Wilde's Kids in America, The Gap Band's You Dropped a Bomb on Me, Culture Club’s Karma Chameleon, Michael Sembello’s Maniac, Twisted Sister's I Wanna Rock and We're Not Gonna Take It, Bon Jovi's Wanted Dead or Alive and Bad Medicine, Soft Cell’s Tainted Love, Robert Palmer’s Simply Irresistible, Rick Astley’s Together Forever, Whenever You Need Somebody, and Never Gonna Give You Up, Cutting Crew’s [I Just] Died In Your Arms, Loverboy's Working for the Weekend, Dead or Alive's You Spin Me Round (Like a Record) and That's the Way (I Like It), Tiffany’s I Think We’re Alone Now, Daryl Hall & John Oates' Maneater, Aneka's Japanese Boy, Mötley Crüe's Dr. Feelgood, Girls, Girls, Girls and Kickstart My Heart, Billy Joel's We Didn't Start the Fire, Huey Lewis And The News' Hip To Be Square, Bill Medley's (I've Had) The Time of My Life, The Police's Every Breath You Take, Whodini's Magic's Wand, Guns ‘N RosesWelcome to the Jungle and Paradise City, Tears For Fears' Everybody Wants To Rule The World, Rockwell's Somebody's Watching Me, Regina's Baby Love, Nena's 99 Red Balloons, Earth, Wind, and Fire's Let's Groove and September, Billy Idol's Eyes Without a Face and White Wedding, Rick JamesGive It To Me Baby, Olivia Newton-John’s Physical, The S.O.S. Band’s Take Your Time (Do It Right), Kenny LogginsHighway to the Danger Zone, Wham!’s Everything She Wants, George Michael's Careless Whisper, Toto's Hold the Line and Africa, Blondie's Heart of Glass and Atomic, and Mai Tai's History.
**Note that not every single year and moment of the 17 year 1975-1992 section playing as Louis DeAngelo is playable or chronicled. My idea is it would be handled similarly to how the time skips in Mafia 1/Mafia: Definitive Edition were handled. Time skips of two or more years, or in this case, even longer such as 4 years sometimes, the game skipping from 1979 to 1983. This is to keep the game and story length ideal, and not risk it getting boring or repetitive, or going on for too long. Repetition was a big problem in Mafia III even if I still thought it was a superb game, so I think it'd be best to learn from that for the next big entry. The games story will skip ahead and show onscreen only what's significant, similar to the first Mafia game and it's remake, as well as certain aspects of Mafia II. Louis starts his section as a 22 year old fugitive soldato who got picked up by another crew south of the Canadian border, and in the epilogue of the game in 1992, is promoted to the consigliere of the Scaletta crime family at the age of 40, being set to take over the family once Vito and Joe become too old to run the day to day on a regular basis. Louis DeSimone is promoted to don of the Scaletta crime family following Vito and Joe being officially retired as of 2006. They’re both still involved and paid huge amounts of money by Louis out of respect, but keep a much lower profile by then since they have handpicked successors and aren’t worried about where the business is going.
The years chronicled in the main gameplay segments are as follows:
1973
1975
1977
1979
1983
1985
1987
1988
1989
1990
1991
1992
Much more of the rural areas and countryside outside of Empire Bay are included than what was available in Mafia II. The way rural environments are handled for this hypothetical Mafia IV is akin to how Mafia: Definitive Edition and Mafia III handled their rural environments outside the main cities, except much larger in scale, given the increased power of the current new consoles such as the PS5 and Xbox Series X. This region is based off of upstate New York and the surrounding areas across multiple states in the Northeastern US, and includes forests, fields, mountains, rivers, lakes, beaches, and small towns. Also included are other cities and towns, based off of other large cities in New York like Syracuse, Buffalo, and Rochester, where other story missions, business activities, and side missions take place, along with smaller notable places like Ithaca, Binghamton, and Utica. The entire states of New Jersey, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Delaware, Maryland, and Ohio are also included, including places based off of all of their major cities and most of their notable towns in between. Large portions of Pennsylvania are included as well, including Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Scranton. All of the province of Nova Scotia including the city of Halifax, and Large portions of the eastern half of the Canadian province of Ontario are included as well, including cities based off of Toronto, Ottawa, and Niagara Falls. There's even a small portion of Quebec included, including Montreal and the surrounding countryside of the province outside that city, including a few small towns in southern Quebec. The player must pass a quick border patrol check when crossing the US-Canada border in a car or other ground vehicle.
Wildlife is present in the game, mostly to add to the background, scenery, and immersion in rural environments on the map. These are all animals native to the Northeastern US, ranging from white tailed deer, coyotes, bobcats, Canada lynxes, rabbits, hares, groundhogs, gophers, beavers, raccoons, opossums, bats, chipmunks, red and gray squirrels, mice, and rats to more formidable and potentially dangerous animals that may sometimes attack the player, such as grey wolves, black bears, mountain lions, and moose. These last four animals are known to spawn in the mountainous regions, especially in New York, Ohio, Vermont, Massachusetts, and Ontario, including the rural regions based off of the Catskills and the Adirondack mountains. Dogs are present in the cities, towns, and settlements where humans live and keep them as pets, being walked and sometimes found in people's yards. Some are used as guard dogs by enemies and are aggressive towards the player on sight. Domestic cats are also present in the background of residential areas, and both Louis and Vito own them as pets throughout the game in their safe houses, as well as other onscreen characters we see the homes of throughout the game.
Aircraft make their first usable appearance in the Mafia series too, from airplanes to helicopters. Vito cannot use planes or helicopters in his playable 1973 portion of the game, as he does not know how to pilot, being a paratrooper in World War II who never actually flew any of the planes himself. Aircraft are unlocked to use when Louis DeSimone gets his pilot’s certificate offscreen in 1977, and at the end of a chapter set that year, Louis has to fly Vito in a helicopter to a penthouse in Downtown Empire Bay acting as a family safe house, equipped with a helipad. Louis frequently serves as a personal driver and pilot for both Vito and Joe afterwards, having done a lot in his time serving the family to earn their trust and respect.
Melee weapons also make a return from Mafia: Definitive Edition, with even more variety this time. In their respective sections of the game, Vito and Louis may use anything from baseball bats, pipes, shovels, brass knuckles, golf clubs, police batons, switchblades, kitchen knives, bowie knives, ice picks, 2x4s, claw hammers, crowbars, tire irons, chain links, machetes, meat cleavers, pickaxes, hatchets, sledgehammers, to fire axes. This amount of melee weapons is so no matter what environment the player finds themselves in during a mission or any other game activity, there is usually a weapon of some sort nearby. If the player has obtained piano wire, you may also strangle an enemy to death with it from behind as a stealth kill, this being a classic assassination method infamous for being used by the Italian Mafia. Rope can also be found and used for similar strangulation stealth kills, appearing in the gameplay environments where piano wire can’t be found. There is a wide variety of new guns and explosives to use in this concept for Mafia IV, going with the new weapons of the time the game takes place that criminals quickly got their hands on. This includes the SPAS-12 combat shotgun, the Beretta 92 pistol, the AK-74 assault rifle, the mini uzi, the MAC-10 submachine gun, both suppressed and unsuppressed variants, the Beretta 92 pistol, the Taurus raging bull revolver, Glock handguns, the TEC-9 machine pistol, illegally modified to be full auto, the Ruger Mini-14 full auto variant, and even Vietnam war era flamethrowers, which I think is only natural given that as of Mafia III, we already have RPGs and grenade launchers. Late in the game from the 1989 section and onwards, the Benelli M3 combat shotgun becomes available. The Milkor MGL grenade launcher becomes available beginning in the 1983 portion of the game. Attached grenade launchers are also available for the AK-47, AK-74, and M16 assault rifles. More advanced rocket launchers of the 1970’s and 1980’s are naturally included as well.
Free ride makes a return in Mafia IV, with the player having the options to change the weather, time period, and an option to play as Louis, Vito, Joe, Lincoln, or John Donovan. Naturally, a multitude of new free ride missions are available as well.
I previously posted a much earlier and less detailed draft of this on the old Mafia3 subreddit 3 years ago back in 2017 as an idea for a hypothetical Mafia 3 expansion where you play as Vito, but have since updated and revamped it to a possible Mafia IV plot, and fixed any plot holes I noticed and made it much more fleshed out and in depth, and focus on more than just Vito in the end. You may view my original here if you so desire, to compare. https://www.reddit.com/Mafia3/comments/6sldhp/spoiler_mafia_iii_vito_dlc_basic_plot_idea/
Feel free to give me constructive criticism on this, as I encourage this discourse and believe it is integral to growing and improving, to build upon or improve these ideas I've come up with, or say whether or not you think something like this should happen in the future. Thank you for reading!

My "2020 Gaming Year in Review" + goals for 2021

Welcome to my "2020 Gaming Year in Review" post. This is the fifth instalment of this Year in Review series of mine, going all the way back to 2016, a time that feels so long in the past now. This year, this post will probably be shorter than in years past (he says, before even beginning to write the next couple thousand characters), because I'm now officially in law school and boy, it's a lotta work already. I'm five weeks in, I still don't know shit (as expected), it's easily the hardest challenge I've ever taken on in my life (and that includes failing to beat Dark Souls) and I won't back down from it. This means that most of my day is spent with studying, lectures and the sort, while my limited free time mostly is spent with friends, family and a casual game of FIFA or Football Manager. I barely played any single player games in November and December and this will probably not change until Christmas (and then until March) but I will try and keep reading your posts and hopefully interact with some of you still, time permitting.
As I start this journey of reliving the worst year in most of our lives, I'm currently "zooming in on" the worst lecture of my week but at least it gives me the time to write this I guess :D. Even though I've said this post will probably not be as long, I've already written a ton. Let's go!

End of Year Stats / A look back on 2020's 12in12 list
Last year, I had my "worst" year in terms of games beaten with 29 (46,86,45 before that) and in 2020, I managed to beat 31 games somehow. This does include only 2 games beaten in April, May, June, August, November and December COMBINED. I'm usually beating the most games in January, a month that has come clutch YET AGAIN in 2020, with more than 33% of my beaten games completed in the first month of the year. Let's look at some overall stats first off.

This number includes 42 "pure" additions and 16 games that I've re-added. This number would've definitely been higher, if I weren't broke for most of the year. Looking at next year's lineup + all the free games that we're still given from multiple sites, I'd expect next year's number to be close to this year's, even though I won't be gaming as much.

Most games I've purchased came from Humble Bundles or on big sales. Everything else was free or my brother bought it and I can play it through Steam Sharing.

The reasons for this year's and last year's low numbers are 1) my brother gets some games 2) majority of these games are freebies 3) the rest is mostly from Humble Bundles.

This number is getting lower and lower but for the simple reason that I haven't actually played as much as in years past. Expecting this to be lower again next year.

Somehow this number is higher than last year. If I had to guess, I'd say it's because I've beaten shorter games. (not calculated the below number yet as I write this part). Let's see, if that's true...

Aaand I was right. 60 hours less for 2 more games. 296 hours would 49 minutes per day. I think that's pretty interesting because 49 minutes per day on average would definitely be doable, with law school and all, so I'm definitely intrigued as to how 2021 will play out.

Yey, 4 games lower than last years. At this rate, I'll be done 2041. Seems about right.

Original 12in12 List for 2020 (10/12 completed)
Last year I beat 5 of 12, so this was a more successful year in that sense. I started Batman Arkham City when I started uni and didn't get much time into it since, so it'll find a spot in next year's list. Mass Effect 2 might be a bit ambitious for next year, especially since I plan on playing Cyberpunk 2077 for a while when I get my hands on it.

Other Goals for 2020
Lol at that second goal.

___________
  1. Top 5 Best Games
5 of 31 games seen as the "Top" games of the year might seem a bit much, but all these games on this list are worthy of the praise.
Honorable mentions go out to Detroit Become Human and Prey. Here we go!

I got this game back when it came out in 2016 because I had played the first game (of the reboot) weeks or months prior. If you're a fan of strategy games at all, you're doing a disservice to yourself by not playing the XCOM series. For a story in a strategy game, XCOM's is pretty good imo but where this game really shines is in its ruthless but fun and engaging turn-based combat (though you miss 90+% shots way too often), its base building and the way it makes you attached to your soldiers, who sacrifice their lives to save the Earth (and also your ass as the commander). I don't remember his name unfortunately but I had one female sniper who'd destroy everyone and it didn't matter it she'd have a 50% or 90% chance to get a hit. She would get it. That's the kind of connection that you don't have in most strategy games.

It's actually criminal to list Bioshock Infinite as #4 on my list but that's a testament to how good the 3 games/series above are. That doesn't take anything away from Bioshock Infinite however, which is a masterpiece in its own right. I really enjoyed Bioshock 2 back when I played it as a teenager. I REALLY enjoyed Bioshock when I played a year or two ago. But the story in Bioshock Infinite is on another level and I'd say that Columbia is just as beautiful as Rapture. There was one scene in this game where you have to escape from the Monument. If you've never seen it and you don't care about a minor spoiler, check it out on YouTube. The music, the thrill of it all. Unmatched by just about anything I've experienced in games.

I don't have much else to say about the Witcher 3, one of my all time favorite games. I've started playing The Witcher 3 when it came out in 2015, not knowing anything about the series, only finding the game interesting. And the journey came to an end in February of this year, after about 300 hours of playing it. If Cyberpunk 2077 is even half as good, it's going to be an amazing experience but if it matches the quality of The Witcher 3, I might just have to find a way to maximize my free time as best as I possibly can. To think that a game like The Witcher 3 had 2 DLC's worth 40+ hours of playtime for only $25 when it came out is ridiculous. Kudos to CDPR.

I first played Half-Life back in 2017. It was amazing. It did age a bit but not nearly as much as most games from its time. Half-Life 2 made a damn ridiculous jump in cinematics, graphics, setting and gameplay. With each episode, the game got more and more insane, culminating with one of the best experiences I've had this year, Episode Two. This series is just so pure. I'm a fan of collectathons like Far Cry if the gameplay is fun at least but there is nothing like a game with (next to) no collectibles where you just keep moving forward, focus on the main story and experience one epic moment after another. Some gameplay elements in these games are still not replicated to this day or at least not on the same level, which is crazy considering that the game came out 16 years ago. The engine for this game is truly amazing. And also, I love the gravity gun.

If I were to be 10 years old again, I'd be losing my damn mind at this game. I'm in my mid 20's now and I STILL lost damn near lost my mind at this game. I've played it solo some and my little brother sat next to me in a few sessions as well. We probably had the same joyful expression in our eyes because this game is as close to perfect as I've ever played. The web swinging is awesome and fun until the end. Combat is smooth and easy to understand, but takes a while to master. Gadgets and special moves all are useful and fun to use. You can unlock all costumes just by playing, which is unheard of these days. The story is good. Side missions are fun to do. I don't really have anything bad to say about this game. Can't wait to play Miles Morales next year.
___________
4. Top 3 Worst Games
This list is a bit difficult to create these days because I don't usually finish games that I find to be bad. I will list 2 games that I've actually finished and one that deserves a spot regardless. Other than that, I will have a few dishonorable mentions.

This might not be fair because it's the story mode of a fighting game but I do think Injustice: Gods Among Us is worthy of a spot here. Mostly because I just want to mention again that superhero movie plots are dumb and selling their fans short in the way that today's movies are all about action but the worst, most stupid and obnoxious plots there could be. With some superhero fans spending so much time trying to find every Easter egg in a movie, I'm surprised how they don't find those 15 obvious plot holes also. Though I have to admit, Avengers: Infinity War was pretty good mostly. And then End Game completely shits the bed with a fat Thor (like fuck off) playing Fortnite (fuck off for real).
Anyway, similar issues can be found in the story mode of this game, one of which I've explained in my main post on this game. (like the scene where Flash is somehow slower than The Green Lantern, Aquaman and someone else, just so>! they get sucked into a portal and not Flash, because that would be an inconvenience within the story they're trying to tell!<).
Do I sound bitter? Yes I do. All I'm saying is that if End Game is the best movie ever (or just a good conclusion to the series even), expectations are really low and, as seen with Infinity War and so many other superhero movies, these movies can be way better.

Last year I had A Way Out in this spot. I just want to reiterate how shit of a game A Way Out is and how it makes less sense then everything I wrote about superhero movies above. "Oh, they escaped prison? Cool... What was that? Why we don't have 20 police cars camping in front of their homes, because of course they will return to their families? Well, ehh."
This time I choose Vampyr, which should be a bit less controversial for anyone who's reading this section (and I am sorry if you're annoyed by how I annoyed I sound but it's the worst games section, what did you expect :D). Anyway, I didn't finish Vampyr but I've played enough of it to be disappointed as hell with it.
The game is mostly talking to characters to unlock dialogue options with other characters to solve some quests while fighting in a pretty average combat system whenever you're not in a conversation. The combat system being average is fine. The dialogue system though is complete shit. I've explained it in my main post on this game and all I can say now is that it truly is too broken to be the main feature of this game. I was really excited to play this but as I said, ended up just disappointed.

A 4 rating might seem high for "worst game of the year". Based on my rating system though, I can't really give anything below a 3 for a game that is functioning and not just a dumb parody or something like that. I wouldn't define Pokemon Sword quite as a "dumb parody" of past Pokemon games and it definitely is functioning. I also actually liked two things about this game, which was my first Pokemon game ever by the way. 1) The arena battle music was nice. 2) The wild area can probably be a fun area to just walk around in, if you're looking for a chill gaming experience. Plus the idea behind the Dynamax system was pretty cool but it didn't really seem to add any tactical value.
I won't continue on without mentioning first that Hop is a little bitch and the worst "companion" in any game ever and that includes Ashley in Resident Evil 4. And now I shall continue.
I guess me ranting about it could never be taking as seriously as when a long time Pokemon fan would. Then again, that depends on if you want the series to be accessible to new potential fans, which, fair enough if you don't. But why the hell is it OK for Nintendo/Game Freak to do what it's doing? First of all. Two separate versions? It's not a big issue I guess but locking different Pokémon to each version is kind of a dick move. Is there a reason for it or is it just because 1) It's always been like that (which isn't a real reason) and 2) Nintendo is hoping to sell both versions to people who'd like a new/different Pokemon experience, which is basically exactly the same but with gyms looking different, arena fights being against different opponents (woah) and different Pokemon being locked to each version.
Way worse than that is the fact that there doesn't seem to be any difference in a Pokemon game from one title to the other. Are they really selling you the same game every few years just with a graphics update, minimal new additions and a new, shitty story? I don't think there are microtransactions in these games but once they're introduced, these games won't really have any difference to sports games.
As it stands, the game was lacking life, sympathetic characters and any features that didn't make the game feel repetitive as hell but I guess that's by design. A good story might have saved this for me but this game had one of the worst collections of characters in any game I've played.
I personally think Pokemon fans deserve better but again, this is the first Pokemon game I've played, so this is just my opinion on it.

5. Award Ceremony
So far, the two "winners" are Marvel's Spider-Man as my GOTY and Pokemon Sword as the Worst Game of the Year. Here are the winners of all the other awards.

[Previous Winner: Mario+Rabbids: Kingdom Battle - Phantom]
The boss fight in the Blood and Wine DLC wasn't one that you'll find many "best boss fights in video games" compilations and I didn't think it was mind blowing either. Admittedly, there weren't many good to great boss fights in the games I've played this year but rather a bunch of games with epic conclusions. I do not have a "most epic conclusion award", however.
Still, the boss fight against Dettlaff, which I don't remember vividly to be honest with you (a lot of stuff happened since February, you know), it was a more than satisfying conclusion to a great DLC to a masterpiece of a video game. Very gory and atmospheric.
RUNNER UP: Marvel's Spider-Man - Otto Octavius

[Previous Winner: Red Dead Redemption 2: Arthur Morgan]
I've given this award to two characters this year and it's well deserved imo. These characters were extremely well written, had great chemistry and character development and all the twists and turns throughout the story of the game gave me more appreciation for them. Kudos!
RUNNER UP: Detroit Become Human: Markus, Kara and Connor

[Previous Loser: Resident Evil 5: Chris and Sheva]
If you read what I wrote about Pokemon Sword, you might've picked up on how much I disliked the games characters, Hop in particular. All he would do is show up before and after big story events, run his mouth about becoming great, challenge the player to a fight, get his ass handed to him and repeat. He'd never wait for me either, always telling me to catch up. There was no value ... actually, negative value to him even being in the game. Apart from being the brother of the Champion, he didn't have any relevance. Not that that fact made him any relevant or anything but it's like they forced a partner on the player who was just not likeable at all.
RUNNER UP: Pokemon Sword: Olivia

[Previous Winner: No Winner in 2019]
Last year, I only played Resi 5 in coop but that sucked, so I obviously couldn't award it. This year, I've played 2 games from the same series. First Overcooked 2 with my bro who's a couple years younger than me and then the original with my little brother who's 3 years old. Both were different experiences but I definitely preferred the one where I didn't have to work overtime just to have enough stars to advance another level. I had a blast with both games though and I'll probably get the PS5 edition, which adds a bunch of nice features to make the game more accessible to little kids (e.g. no timer).
RUNNER UP: Overcooked

NEW AWARD
I've never played a game with a timer like this before but I do know there are a few others out there. Basically, you have 60 seconds to do as many things as possible and after 60 seconds you die and respawn. The things you've done will remain done however. If you found a sword for example, it will now be in your inventory. It's a very short game, so the mechanic doesn't get old and is definitely making the game a unique experience.
RUNNER UP: Blair Witch - Cassette tapes allow you to change reality

[Previous Winner: The Outer Worlds]
As I said, didn't play a single game that came out this year, though I do have Mafia. Will probably buy and perhaps play a few games that release next year though.
RUNNER UP: /

NEW AWARD
Did I create this award for just that quest? Yes. And I should probably name the award after it. I guess the setting the quest (I call it level because it works with most games) takes place in is called "Land of a thousand Fables". That should give you an broad idea about it. It's just such a weird and fun detour from the rest of the game and the quest in this world is pretty interesting (as per usual with quest in TW3).
RUNNER UP: Half-Life 2 - Ravenholm

NEW AWARD
Both the "winner" and runner up deserve praise for the best "fuck up the pacing" job of all time. In AC II, they've apparently added two sequences via DLC and in 13, you are basically just mindlessly supposed to kill 8 million targets to then kill the main target. I didn't get anything from it and it's just prove that more content doesn't mean good content.
In Blair Witch, a horror game that wasn't great but not the worst in the genre out there, you enter a spooked house. And then you run around in it for over an hour. Any kind of good pacing or atmosphere the game had just vanished by that point. To me, scary is something that is unknown and just making me run around in a small house for 60 minutes is the opposite of that, even if I technically don't know what's coming. At times, it seemed like even the devs didn't know what's coming.
RUNNER UP: Assassins Creed II - Sequence 13

NEW AWARD
I've described it when I talked about Bioshock Infinite above but man, this whole event was just awesome. Go on YouTube and type Bioshock Infinite: Monument Tower escape if you're curious.
RUNNER UP: Half-Life 2: Episode Two - Ending

[Previous Winner: D'Angelo: Unshaken / Red Dead Redemption 2]
As much as a lot of games have flaws in their storytelling, I think it produces the most beautiful music out there. Last year's winner is a song I still listen to from time to time and the same goes for the famous intro song to AC II, which I've fallen in love with immediately. I criticized the game for a lot of things (and stand by that still) but the soundtrack is beautiful. Exemplified by this song.
RUNNER UP: Philip Sheppard: Little One - Detroit: Become Human

[Previous Winner: Red Dead Redemption 2]
Listen to the Runner Up of the award above. Songs don't often make me emotional but the way that song was used during this game, the way the entire soundtrack was put to use, got me close to tears regularly. Beautiful.
RUNNER UP: GRIS

[Previous Winner: Red Dead Redemption 2]
After all I've already written about this game, this shouldn't come as a surprise. Rarely do games leave me this shook and the Bioshock series has done it twice. It's a storytelling masterpiece in my opinion.
RUNNER UP: Detroit: Become Human

NEW AWARD
The game is obviously universally praised for its visuals, so this award isn't a surprise. At the start, I thought "just because you made the game more and more colorful, doesn't mean you it's art" but once you figure out what the game is about, it makes sense.
RUNNER UP: Detroit: Become Human

NEW AWARD
As someone who loves comedy and funny games, I had to add this award. I don't know why I find the Deponia series as funny as it is (might be my German side) but yeah, out of all the games I've played this year, this was an easy W for Deponia Doomsday. Not the funniest out of the 4 games but still funny.
RUNNER UP: Marvel's Spider-Man

[Previous Winner: GTA IV]
You obviously expect a bit more out of one of the most popular series in the world, so I was very disappointed with the end product. I'd say the game lives more off of nostalgia than being a decent game by any definition.
RUNNER UP: Divinity: Original Sin

[Previous Winner: Mass Effect]
My brother and I just were bored one day and decided to try this via Game Pass. It looked fun but we didn't think it would be that fun. I still play this and Overcooked with my little brother from time to time because he really enjoys it as well. Good little game if you're looking to spend an afternoon playing games with a friend, relative or your SO.
RUNNER UP: 11-11: Memories Retold
___________
6. 12in12 List for 2021 + Other Goals
I've nearly completed all 12 games this year. I'm going to be mostly going with shorter games for 2021 because otherwise completing it is just not realistic. There will be one veeery long game though.

Well, this list ended up being filled with longer games than expected. I had to add Cyberpunk 2077, a game I don't own yet, for obvious reasons. It's the game I'm most hyped about since Fallout 4. Unlike with that game however, I will wait for bug fixes first and not watch any gameplay videos before starting it. I've done a good job up until this point. Will probably get it around Christmas, if some technical issues that were mentioned are mostly fixed by then.
AC: Brotherhood, Batman Arkham City, Layers of Fear 2 and Yakuza 0 are sequels to games I enjoyed mostly, so I had to add those as well. I'm about 70 hours into Persona 5 but stopped (again). It's my #1 goal to finally beat it in 2021, even with the limited amount of time in my hands.
The rest are a mix of short and medium length games and I expect to be able to beat them all.
___________
I hope next year we'll slowly but surely be able to return to our normal lives, I hope you all have a great holiday season and am looking forward to reading your Year in Reviews as well. I'll have no lectures for a two week Christmas coming up next week, so that'll free up a bunch of time to read through your posts and also play more games. I don't expect to finish anything else this year though (1) time 2) Cyberpunk 2077), so I'll see you all with a monthly progress post in January.

Book Kenny Omega Staying in NJPW - Chapter Two: Redemption (Ape)

Part One Here!

After his speech at the G1 Supercard in New York, Kenny Omega makes it clear that while he very much has aspirations for his singles career, he wants to do more of what he was unable to as Heavyweight Champion, and work alongside his friends and stablemates, something that clearly worked against Bullet Club. He says on Twitter that Hangman has obligations on the first Road to Dontaku show, but he and the Young Bucks are free, leading to a reply from Tetsuya Naito simply saying "LOS INGOBERNABLES de JAPON." This all sets the stage for a blockbuster six man tag on the Road to Wrestling Dontaku, pitting The Elite against LIJ's Tetsuya Naito, EVIL and SANADA.

Road to Wrestling Dontaku, Night One
The Elite (Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks) vs LIJ (Tetsuya Naito, SANADA and EVIL)
LIJ are out first, Naito being followed by his stablemates as the crowd shows their support. He's still aching from his loss to Kota Ibushi, and missing his Intercontinental Title, but he looks to rebound alongside his partners by defeating an old G1 foe in Kenny Omega, and dispatching of the Young Bucks as potential challengers for EVIL and SANADA's IWGP Tag Team Titles, who won the belts at the Supercard. They're followed out by the Elite, who look ready to rumble after a successful night at MSG, and the proceedings start with SANADA and Omega, a rerun of their New Japan Cup bout.
SANADA knows where he slipped up last time against Omega, and takes the fight to Kenny before Kenny can take it to him, running out of the gates with a forearm smash, followed by a German Suplex, but Kenny lands on his feet, only for SANADA to nail a superkick and a SAITO SUPLEX THAT CONNECTS! Omega scrambles to his feet, but SANADA throws him to LIJ's corner to prevent a tag, hauling Kenny up onto the top rope before heading up to the second, raining punches down before tagging in Naito.
Kenny doesn't see the tag, dropping down from the ropes to get underneath the Cold Skull before RUNNING THE LENGTH OF THE RING, POWERBOMBING SANADA INTO A DOUBLE ENZIGURI BY MATT AND NICK! Both Bucks rush into the ring as Naito tries to attack Kenny, and Omega ducks, Naito getting NAILED WITH A TANDEM SUPERKICK! Nick runs and superkicks EVIL for good measure as Omega goes to work on Naito.
Omega wears Naito down with a dropkick to the back of the neck, knowing it's sore after the match with Ibushi, and looks for a Piledriver, only for EVIL to tag Naito's foot, keeping the Omega/Naito interaction from going too long. EVIL rushes in and blindsides Omega with a huge body splash before connecting with a body slam for two, pulling Omega up by the hair for a DISCUS LARIAT! ONE! TWO! NICK BREAKS IT UP WITH A 450, ONLY TO GET HIT WITH A DARKNESS FALLS!
Matt enters the fray despite EVIL and Omega being legal, hitting a superkick on EVIL, only for SANADA to kick out his leg and LOCK IN A SKULL END! Omega starts to get up to his feet, as does Nick, and they SANDWICH SANADA'S HEAD WITH A SUPERKICK! Omega finally makes the tag on Nick, who rushes in with a double axehandle on SANADA, a superkick on EVIL and a MOONSAULT TO THE FLOOR FOR NAITO!
Nick rolls back in, and throws another superkick at SANADA, WHO CATCHES THE FOOT FOR AN ANKLE LOCK! Nick is screaming, and Kenny interferes with a V Trigger to send The Cold Skull to the outside, only for NAITO TO HIT A GLORIA ON OMEGA! MATT CONNECTS WITH A SPEAR ON NAITO! It's utter carnage, Nick and EVIL fighting to their feet as the legal men, and EVIL hits a forearm smash on Matt to finally clear the ring before LOCKING IN A BANSHEE MUZZLE ON NICK!
EVIL has it in tight, but it's Omega who makes the save, going for a Croyt's Wrath on EVIL after breaking up the submission attempt, only to get grabbed by Naito. Naito shakes his head, Omega not getting away that easy, and GOES FOR A DESTINO, ONLY TO GET CAUGHT BY OMEGA IN A LAWN DART POSITION... LAUNCHES NAITO HEADLONG INTO THE CORNER! SANADA leaps in with a missile dropkick attempt and eats a V Trigger, and Nick tells Matt to haul EVIL up as Nick scrambles ot the apron... MELTZER DRIVER! ONE! TWO! THREE! THE ELITE KNOCK OFF LIJ!
The Elite (Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks) def. LIJ (Tetsuya Naito, SANADA and EVIL) (16:40)
After such a huge win, and after knocking off Bullet Club in the elimination match at the New Japan Cup Finals, Omega and the bucks make their next goal clear - they want the record for most NEVER Six Man Title reigns, and they're going to get their third at the expense of Bullet Club.
Omega goes on a tangent, saying that in only two matches as a stable since coming back they've proven themselves better than anyone - "Bullet Club, LIJ, CHAOS, Suzuki-gun." The Bucks all nod along, despite likely just making themselves some enemies, and send out the challenge - The Elite vs Bullet Club for the NEVER Titles on Night Five of Road to Wrestling Dontaku - and the G.O.D and Taiji Ishimori accept.

Road to Wrestling Dontaku, Night Five
Bullet Club (G.O.D. and Taiji Ishimori) (c) vs The Elite (Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks) for the NEVER Openweight Six Man Titles
Out first are the Elite, the Bucks and Omega being accompanied by Hangman Adam Page to the ring. The Guerillas of Destiny are out next alongside the Bone Soldier, touting their Six Man Titles around their waists as they get to the ring, music booming alongside the cold reception. However, they stop on the apron, and out come Gedo, Jado, Chase Owens and Bad Luck Fale, ready to make sure Bullet Club keep the advantage numbers-wise.
Bullet Club all warm up in their corner, Tanga Loa electing to start, while the Elite confer about the four managers their opponents brought out. Matt can be seen saying "let's just beat the fuck outta them," and Nick rolls his eyes at the brash response to the problem. Kenny agrees with Matt, and Hangman grabs a chair before justifying it as being "just in case," leaving a disgruntled Nick to enter the ring and start things off.
Nick tries to chop down the legs of the much larger Loa early on, but Tanga just back him up into the corner and cuts the ring in half, pounding him with hard shots to the midsection to wear down the high flyer. He goes for a powerbomb, and Nick drops down for a superkick, knocking Loa into his G.O.D. partner for the tag. Tama Tonga comes out with a high chop to the throat and a Stinger Splash in the corner, relishing in the control before again tagging in Tanga and going for a MAGIC KILLER, BUT OMEGA RUSHES IN WITH A LARIAT ON TONGA!
Loa goes after Omega, and Kenny runs around the ring, being chased by both Loa and Ishimori, bringing them right into a TANDEM SUICIDE DIVE BY THE YOUNG BUCKS! Kenny rolls Nick in and tags in, rushing in with a V TRIGGER ON TONGA! He picks him up for a One Winged Angel, but Tonga starts raining punches down, dropping down and rolling from the ring to talk to Gedo. Meanwhile, Taiji Ishimori creeps up behind Omega while the ref talks to Tama, and HITS A TIGER FEINT KICK! Omega falls over and Ishimori rushes up for a 450, but the ref yells at him up top as Tonga RUSHES IN WITH A PAIR OF BRASS KNUCKLES!
Omega is still getting to his feet, and the ref is distracted, with both Bucks still down from the dive. Tonga might get away with a shot from the knuckles, but HANGMAN BLASTS HIM WITH THE CHAIR! HE ABSOLUTELY BRAINED HIM! The rest of Bullet Club storm the ring and eat chairshots as well, the Young Bucks rolling in and running interference with superkicks as the referee screams, although not knowing anyone in the match was involved, He throws out Hangman and Bullet Club, but everyone is down except for the Elite! Omega hauls Tama Tonga up in an electric chair, and BOTH BUCKS HIT A DOUBLE SUPERKICK, OMEGA CAPPING IT WITH A ONE WINGED ANGEL! Tanga Loa is stopped by the Bucks as he tries to break up the pin, and OMEGA SCORES THE THREE! THE ELITE JUST OUT BULLET CLUBBED BULLET CLUB TO WIN THE SIX MAN TITLES!
The Elite (Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks) def. Bullet Club (G.O.D. and Taiji Ishimori) (11:12) to win the NEVER Openweight Six Man Titles
After the bout, it's interview time, and Kenny, having now gotten himself back on track, is settling into the role of epic, shit-talking troll that he's just oh so good in. He tells Bullet Club that the Elite left for a reason, and then starts trashing other stables. "First things first, Tanahashi, I'm coming for you, my man. You can't get away with all your faux 'old school' bullshit anymore. I see through it, I see through you, and when the time comes, I'll be there to kick your ass back to the Golden Age. But for now, we've got some nice hardware, huh? You know, we left Bullet Club for a reason. We're called the Elite for a reason. We're better than the Club, we're better than main unit, better than CHAOS, LIJ... and what the fuck is Suzuki-gun still a thing for?"
That final namedrop gets the attention of Zack Sabre Jr, fresh off a tag win alongside Taichi and El Desperado. Zack charges into the audience room and slaps Omega in the face, causing Kenny, the Bucks, and Hangman to all leap up, but Suzuki-gun get up in their grills to keep them away as Omega and Sabre go face to face. "You want to talk about how you're a big man, huh? Face it, Tanahashi NEUTERED you! You know who's beaten Tanahashi? ME. You know who you couldn't beat clean? ME. Don't you DARE talk down about us. You want to show you're 'Kenny Omega, the Best Bout Machine?' Show me. I know that your Elite friends won't be in Nagoya for Sengoku Lord, but I will. Face me, one on one, Kenny, and we'll see who's truly Elite." Sabre storms out, throwing chairs and water bottles as he goes, and Kenny chuckles to himself before heading off to celebrate with the Bucks and Hangman on their record-tying victory.

Sengoku Lord in Nagoya
Kenny Omega vs Zack Sabre Jr
Sabre is out first, having shown a more aggressive demeanor than his usual rage-filled responses to failed strategies. He's the one to challenge Omega here, so there's a lot to prove, and he still looks more ready than usual as Kenny hits the scene. Last time these two faced off, Kenny had to resort to a roll up to win, and now Zack knows him even better, arguably giving Sabre the advantage heading in. The Best Bout Machine is still confident as ever, but is firmly the good guy against ZSJ, high fiving audience members and the like on the way down. He gets in the ring and does his theatrics, the whole time being flipped off by Sabre. Kenny hops down and comes nose to nose with the Windy Man, talking trash before being backed up to his own corner for the bell to ring.
Kenny keeps trashing ZSJ as the two circle each other like sharks, Sabre waiting for Kenny to make a move. Omega knows that the bulk of Sabre's submission capability comes from his legs, so he eventually shoots for his right, only for Sabre to spin around and TRY AND ROLL OMEGA UP! Kenny kicks out at two, but Zack goes straight into an armbar, Kenny scrambling to free himself as quickly as possible, handstanding and sliding his legs under Sabre's arms for a SUNSET PIN! ONE! TWO! SABRE KICKS OUT!
Zack rolls out of the ring and kicks the barricade repeatedly, screaming obscenities as he goes, while Kenny leans against the ropes, asking if he's done. Zack tells Kenny to fuck himself, and rolls into the ring. Omega tells him he can have the first move, and Sabre goes for a discus forearm, which Omega ducks, throwing a side kick to the body which Zack catches, swinging the leg back and connecting with the forearm all the same. He goes for a German on Kenny, but Omega flips over and goes for one of his own, only for Sabre to slide between his legs and trip him up with a drop toehold, LOCKING IN AN ORIENTEERING WITH NAPALM DEATH! Omega punches Sabre's limbs to try and free himself up, and eventually slides under himself and rolls free, kicking Zack in the jaw with his free leg to get out of the hold.
Now it's Omega who's pissed, and he charges at Zack, who throws a high kick which Omega ducks, only for SABRE TO SPIN ROUND AND KICK OUT THE LEG! Kenny drops to a knee and eats a boot to the face, and then gets NAILED WITH A PENALTY KICK FOR A NEARFALL! Sabre goes for an Indian Deathlock, but he doesn't have it fully, and Kenny manages to heave his own weight to the ropes quickly, rolling to the apron and hitting an enziguri on ZSJ. He looks for a springboard dropkick, but Sabre scouts it, jumping aside and hitting a forearm smash before SHOOTING FOR AN ARTICLE 50! Omega is in a lot of pain, his arm being torn apart, but torques Sabre's knee into forcing a release, both men rolling away, tired.
Omega's up first, and he throws a V Trigger with his good leg, but Sabre has it scouted, hitting Kenny with a kick to the stomach to go for a Zack Driver. Kenny hops over, and HITS A REVERSE FRANKENSTEINER, ONLY FOR SABRE TO HANDSPRING OUT! SABRE WITH A SUPERKICK TO THE BACK OF THE NECK! ONE! TWO! KICKOUT, AND SABRE GOES STRAIGHT INTO THE GUILLOTINE CHOKE! He's got it in tight, and Kenny might be forced to tap here... he pounds on the mat, trying to rally the crowd in his favour as he slowly gets to a knee, then a vertical base... Kenny wraps the head, and CONNECTS WITH A BRAINBUSTER! BOTH MEN DOWN!
Kenny is exhausted, but picks Sabre up for a One Winged Angel all the same. He throws the leg back, and SABRE SHIFTS HIS WEIGHT, LOCKING HIS LEGS AND SPINNING INTO A TRIANGLE CHOKE! OMEGA COULD BE FADING! He tries for a powerbomb, but doesn't have the strength to pick Sabre up, and Sabre TURNS IT INTO AN ARMBAR, FREEING UP AN ARM TO BATTER OMEGA! Omega falls to a knee, and then falls flat, howling in agony... but HE SLIPS HIS ARM OUT! V TRIGGER! Sabre is dazed... V TRIGGER INTO THE ROPES! He's got a bad arm, but he can handle it as he picks Sabre up... CROYT'S WRATH ATTEMPTED, BUT SABRE LANDS ON HIS FEET! Sabre jumps up... CRUCIFIX COVER! ONE! TWO! KENNY KICKS OUT, BUT SABRE ROLLS INTO ANOTHER SMALL PACKAGE... ONE! TWO! THREE! ZACK SABRE JR PINS KENNY OMEGA THE SAME WAY OMEGA BEAT HIM A YEAR AGO!
Zack Sabre Jr def. Kenny Omega (18:54)
After the match, Kenny sits in the corner, disappointed in himself, and stares down Sabre, who... extends a hand? Omega gets up by himself, not knowing what Sabre could have planned, but SABRE HITS A KICK TO THE BAD KNEE! The bell is frantically rung as Kenny writhes, and out comes Minoru Suzuki, ready to hand Omega's ass to him for trashing his stable. Suzuki savours it as he stomps on Kenny's leg, knowing the Elite aren't on this leg of the tour, and hauls Kenny up for a Gotch Style Piledriver, when...
OH MY GOD! IT'S KOTA IBUSHI!
IBUSHI RUSHES TO THE RING AND CLEANS HOUSE! MISSILE DROPKICK TO SABRE! GOLDEN STAR POWERBOMB ON SUZUKI! Zack is stirring... KAMIGOYE! SUZUKI-GUN HAVE BEEN SENT PACKING BY THE INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPION! Ibushi looks at a battered and bruised Kenny Omega, and extends a hand, just like Sabre... but again, Kenny doesn't take it.
He grabs a microphone from a ringside technician, and says "Ibushi... you haven't talked to me since Tanahashi, and I get it. You idolize him, and you didn't like the fact that I wanted to take the fight to him. But I still do, Ibushi. So I appreciate the fact that you wanted to come to my aid, but... I can't, in good conscience, let you go through that again. Until I'm done with Tanahashi, I can't do that to you, man." Ibushi, sans microphone, walks to Omega and points a finger in his chest, saying "Watashi wa kore no tame ni anata to issho ni imasu."
Omega looks to Ibushi, and thinks for a moment, before HUGGING HIM! THE GOLDEN LOVERS ARE REUNITED ONCE AGAIN! IBUSHI AND OMEGA ARE TOGETHER ONCE MORE! Confetti rains from the sky as the two embrace, once again partners.
It's announced that at Wrestling Dontaku, Night One, the main event will see the Golden Lovers reunite to take on Minoru Suzuki and Zack Sabre Jr., while, on Night Two, they'll go head to head with Shingo Takagi and a vengeful Tetsuya Naito.

Wrestling Dontaku, Night One
Golden Lovers vs Suzuki-gun (Minoru Suzuki and Zack Sabre Jr)
Suzuki-gun enter first, Suzuki and Sabre uncharacteristically not being accompanied by the rest of their stable, opting instead to show Omega and Ibushi who's boss by taking the boots to them the old fashioned way, with no tricks. The Golden Lovers theme hits, and the crowd come unglued as Kenny Omega and Kota Ibushi walk out on stage, Ibushi with his Intercontinental Title and Kenny with his NEVER Six Man strap. The bell rings, with Omega and Suzuki starting things off.
Kenny's knee has had time to heal up, so he's pretty fresh heading in, as is Suzuki. However, the daunting Suzuki still strikes fear in Kenny, who almost tries to avoid eye contact as the two go face to face. Minoru stands toe to toe with Kenny, who still looks away, and hits a tremendous chop on the Cleaner. Kenny flies back into his corner, seemingly wanting to tag out, but Ibushi tells him he can do it. Omega nods, heading back to the centre of the ring and absorbing another chop before DELIVERING ONE OF HIS OWN! Suzuki roars, and Kenny keeps the pressure on, chop after chop after chop landing before hitting a Hadouken to the face, and going for a KOTARO KRUSHER, WHICH SUZUKI CATCHES, DELIVERING A SUPLEX!
Suzuki tags in Sabre, and Zack goes straight to work on a recovering Omega, rushing the ropes to deliver a HUGE PK! ONE! TWO! KENNY KICKS OUT! Sabre locks in a chinlock, but Kenny slides out and goes for a V Trigger, which Sabre avoids before going for a Tiger Suplex, but Kenny escapes and looks for a superkick, only for Zack to catch the foot, so Omega goes for a back heel kick, and Sabre ducks, throwing a forearm that Kenny avoids... both men run the ropes and hit DOUBLE CLOTHESLINES! THEY KNOW EACH OTHER SO WELL!
Both men struggle to their corners, and THEY BOTH MAKE THE TAG! Suzuki sprints out of the corner with a head of steam, but Ibushi ducks, running the ropes and delivering a huge running hurricanrana, stacking Suzuki up for a nearfall! Minoru springs up and connects with a HUGE FOREARM! Ibushi absorbs it and fires back, before the TWO START GOING BLOW FOR BLOW! The two scream as they strike, neither budging an inch before IBUSHI HITS A KICK TO THE MIDSECTION! 24 SAI POWERBOMB! ONE! TWO! SABRE KICKS IBUSHI IN THE HEAD TO BREAK IT UP, AND GETS BLASTED WITH A V TRIGGER! Omega throws ZSJ out of the ring, and Ibushi low bridges Suzuki to send him out as well. They nod to each other... GOLDEN TRIANGLE MOONSAULTS TO THE OUTSIDE ON BOTH MEN! THE GOLDEN LOVERS IN PERFECT FORM!
Ibushi sends Suzuki back in and tags Omega, who heads up top for a 450 SPLASH! ONE! TWO! KICKOUT! Omega pulls Suzuki up, measuring his distances for a V TRIGGER! Hauls him up... AOI SHOUDOU! ONE! TWO! KICKOUT AGAIN! Omega chuckles, no longer scared with his friend in his corner, and looks for a Doctor Bomb, only for SABRE TO PULL SUZUKI OFF KENNY'S SHOULDERS! Kenny V Triggers Suzuki out of ZSJ's hands, and then picks up Sabre, hitting a YOU CAN'T ESCAPE! He calls for Ibushi to head up, and IBUSHI HITS A 450, FOLLOWED BY ANOTHER MOONSAULT BY OMEGA!
Suzuki struggles to his feet and gets decapitated by Ibushi with a roundhouse, and Omega picks him up for a One Winged Angel... SUZUKI SLIDES OFF AND LOCKS IN THE SLEEPER! Ibushi tries to pull Suzuki off his partner, but Zack picks Ibushi's leg and LOCKS IN ARTICLE 50! Both Omega and Ibushi are in trouble, and Omega's quickly fading... Ibushi struggles to a knee, but can't seem to shake ZSJ... OMEGA LEAPS UP AND DIVES ONTO SABRE, USING SUZUKI AS A WEAPON! Sabre's flattened, and Ibushi picks him up... GOLDEN STAR POWERBOMB! Omega and Suzuki are still legal, and a purple Omega hits a lariat, before calling Ibushi over. The two call for it... GOLDEN TRIGGER! ONE! TWO! THREE! THE GOLDEN LOVERS ARE VICTORIOUS IN THEIR RETURN!
Golden Lovers def. Suzuki-gun (Minoru Suzuki and Zack Sabre Jr) (20:01)

Wrestling Dontaku, Night Two
Golden Lovers vs LIJ (Tetsuya Naito and Shingo Takagi)
Los Ingobernables are out first, Naito and the daunting, undefeated in singles action Takagi making their way to the ring to try and exact some vengeance on Intercontinental Champ Ibushi and his partner Omega. The Golden Lovers come out to a warm reception, posing on the turnbuckles before heading in, deciding on Ibushi and Naito starting things off. The bell rings, and the crowd all hold their breath for the inevitability that someone's neck is going to explode.
Naito and Ibushi lock up, and Naito instantly tries to shove Ibushi to the ropes. Ibushi tumbles to the apron, and Naito hits a knee to the gut, pushing Ibushi against the ring post. He throws a few shots to the gut, and winds up for one more, but IBUSHI LEAPS OUT OF THE WAY, CAUSING NAITO TO PUNCH THE POST! Naito holds his hand and yelps, but he has no time to recover as Ibushi dropkicks his legs out from under him, running up onto the apron and LOOKING FOR A GERMAN TO REPAY THE FAVOUR TO NAITO, ONLY FOR SHINGO TO CHECK HIM OFF THE APRON INTO THE ANNOUNCER'S AREA!
Kenny looks on in horror at this absolute beast who just jetted his partner a good ten feet, and Naito clutches his hand before rolling to the floor to grab Ibushi. Naito pulls Ibushi up by the hair, with Kota on the commentary table, and then gets up on it himself, Ibushi throwing wild haymakers that Naito manages to avoid before setting up for a Destino. Omega shakes his head, not about to let this happen, and HITS A V TRIGGER ON SHINGO, LAUNCHING PAST TO THE OUTSIDE! He dashes to commentary and SPRINGBOARDS OFF THE BARRICADE WITH A FLYING V TRIGGER TO NAITO, BOTH MEN FLYING DEEPER INTO THE ARENA!
Omega yells at Kota to get Naito back in, and Kota manages to drag El Ingobernable back to the ring, looking for a 450 SPLASH, BUT NAITO AVOIDS! GLORIA BY TETSUYA NAITO! ONE! TWO! KOTA POWERS OUT! An exhausted Naito goes over to Shingo and makes the tag, and the absolute tank of a man steps into the ring, looming over Ibushi. He hauls the Golden Star up, and Ibushi quickly goes to the leg, kicking it over and over before CONNECTING WITH A TORNADO DDT, BUT SHINGO SPRINGS UP! Ibushi is in awe and charges at Shingo, who NAILS A SHOULDER TACKLE, ONLY FOR IBUSHI TO KIP UP! LARIAT TO THE BACK OF THE HEAD BY SHINGO! Runs the ropes... PUMPING BOMBER! ONE! TWO! OMEGA BREAKS IT UP!
Ibushi is gasping for breath after Shingo's onslaught, but Naito goes straight after Omega, trying to keep him from aiding his partner by CONNECTING WITH A WHEEL KICK TO THE CROWN OF THE SKULL! Shingo picks Ibushi up for the Last of the Dragon, but IBUSHI COUNTERS INTO A DRAGON SLEEPER! He tightens it, trying to wear Takagi down, but SHINGO TURNS IT INTO A POWERSLAM, RAMMING IBUSHI INTO THE CORNER WITH A DEATH VALLEY DRIVER!
Kota's hacking up a lung, having not tagged out in over fifteen minutes, and Shingo's got control, muscling him up for a Last of the Dragon, only for IBUSHI TO DROP DOWN! ROUNDHOUSE! Shingo's down to a knee, and OMEGA FLIES IN WITH A V TRIGGER BEFORE TAKING OUT NAITO! Omega runs to his apron, cheering on Ibushi, and KOTA MAKES THE TAG! Omega comes in like a man possessed, hitting three successive V Triggers on Shingo before going after Naito with a RISE OF THE TERMINATOR TOPE!
Kenny rolls back in to try and deal with Shingo, picking him up for an AOI SHOUDOU! ONE! TWO! SHINGO KICKS OUT! Kenny goes for a Croyt's Wrath, but SHINGO DROPS DOWN AND HITS A PUMPING BOMBER! Both men are down, and SHINGO MAKES THE TAG! Naito slides in and connects with a Flying Forearm Smash, followed by an EVOLUCION! ONE! TWO! OMEGA STAYS ALIVE! Naito stays calm, and instead picks Omega up for a DESTINO... AND IT CONNECTS! SHOOTS THE HALF! ONE! TWO! IBUSHI BREAKS IT UP WITH A PHOENIX SPLASH, TAKING BOTH MEN OUT!
Shingo goes after Ibushi, but Ibushi ducks and pays homage to his partner by going for a KOTARO KRUSHER, ONLY TO GET LAUNCHED TO THE APRON! Ibushi hits Shingo with an enziguri, and a wounded Omega gets to his feet and HITS A KOTARO KRUSHER ON SHINGO! IBUSHI WITH A SPRINGBOARD 450! OMEGA WITH THE MOONSAULT! Naito is down, and the two HIT A GOLDEN TRIGGER! ONE! TWO! THREE!
Golden Lovers def. LIJ (Tetsuya Naito and Shingo Takagi) (17:57)
After the match, Omega and Ibushi put Shingo over by talking about how there's sure a reason he's unpinned and unsubmitted - even they couldn't put him down for three. However, Omega talks about how with his friends by his side, be it Ibushi or the Bucks - he feels completely unstoppable, and he's glad to know that everyone's got his back again. He says it's a lot easier knowing that he's got people he can lean on, but he's still got to strike out on his own as well - he still wants to team with Ibushi and the Elite, but he's got his own goals to aspire to, and he wants to find himself as a singles guy again after losing to Zack Sabre Jr.
He says that War of the Worlds is coming up, and he wants the best Ring of Honor can offer, to prove that, just like he did to Lethal, he's still got it as a singles star.

ROH/NJPW War of the Worlds 2019
Kenny Omega Open Challenge
Kenny Omega makes his way to the ring, telling the crowd that he'll welcome any and all comers, saying he wants a challenge, someone who will give him that rush that he so desperately loves. He calls out to the back for anyone to come face him, and his challenge is answered by this. Bandido makes his way to the ring, and the two face off for the first time EVER, IN ANY CAPACITY. The commentators hype up his accomplishments to that point - main evented ALL IN, finalist in the BOLA tournament in 2018, pinning Shingo Takagi in the process. He and Omega stare down, the crowd on their feet, and the bell rings.
The two men exchange glares, and, well, the crowd want a maniacal sprint, so let's give it to them. Omega instantly goes after his new opponent, but Bandido low bridges, sending Omega to the apron. Both men get the same idea and go for enziguris, but Bandido CARTWHEELS OVER FOR A SUPERKICK! Omega clutches his jaw as Bandido runs up the ropes like it's second nature, and DIVES OVER THE TOP ROPE TO THE APRON FOR A HURRICANRANA TO THE FLOOR, BUT KENNY LANDS ON HIS FEET!
Bandido turns around slowly, Omega with a huge grin on his face for being able to keep pace, and Bandido lunges for a lariat, which Kenny ducks, but BANDIDO HOPS ONTO THE BARRICADE FOR A MOONSAULT PRESS, WHICH OMEGA CATCHES! Picks Bandido up... YOU CAN'T ESCAPE ON THE OUTSIDE, WITH A MOONSAULT OFF THE BARRIER! Kenny rolls Bandido back in, and heads up top himself, trying to outclass the fastest-rising luchador in the world.
Omega sets up for a 450 Splash, but BANDIDO MOVES AND STACKS KENNY UP! ONE! TWO! KICKOUT! Omega kips up, as does Bandido, and Omega hits a superkick to the knee, only for BANDIDO TO SPRING ONTO HIS HANDS TO AVOID THE IMPACT! Kenny chuckles as Bandido handstands, and then just low superkicks him in the face. Kenny throws Bandido into the corner for a Flash Man's Time Stopper enziguri, and then goes for a Doctor Bomb, only for BANDIDO TO SUNSET FLIP OVER! ONE! TWO! KICKOUT BY OMEGA!
Now it's Bandido in control, and he unleashes a blitz of strikes that leaves Kenny dazed and confused, capping it with a HANDSPRING ENZIGURI! Kenny goes down to a knee, and BANDIDO WITH A SHINING WIZARD THAT'S DUCKED, OMEGA KIPPING UP! V TRIGGER OFF THE REBOUND! Bandido falls to the ropes, and Kenny goes for ANOTHER V TRIGGER, WHICH BANDIDO DODGES! HE GOES FOR THE 24 PLEX THAT'S FINISHED THE LIKES OF SHINGO, BUT KENNY HOLDS ON! Bandido kicks out his hand, and goes for the other, but Kenny breaks Bandido's grip and slides out of the ring to breathe, only to get ANNIHILATED WITH A SPACEMAN PLANCHA!
Bandido sends Omega back in and goes for a springboard missile dropkick, but OMEGA HITS A V TRIGGER OUT OF THE AIR! Bandido's still standing, somehow, and Omega fires his finger gun in tandem with Bandido collapsing to a pop. He picks Bandido up and runs the ropes for a KOTARO KRUSHER, BUT BANDIDO HANDSPRINGS TO AVOID! He's behind Omega and GOES FOR A POISON RANA, BUT OMEGA HOLDS HIS LEGS! HE'S IN THE ELECTRIC CHAIR... CROYT'S WRATH BY OMEGA! ONE! TWO! KICKOUT!
The Cleaner seems to be calling for a One Winged Angel, and he picks an exhausted Bandido up off the floor, but BANDIDO HITS A PELE KICK! He rushes to the top rope, but OMEGA HITS A V TRIGGER! Kenny heads to the apron, determined to not let Bandido take to the skies, and heads up top from the apron, raining punches on Bandido, but BANDIDO GETS HIM INTO A FALLAWAY SLAM... MOONSAULT OFF THE TOP FOR A REVOLUTION FLY! COVER ON OMEGA FOR A NEARFALL! Bandido picks Kenny up... LAUNCHING HIM INTO THE SKY FOR A GTS! Omega is still on his feet, the verge of collapsing... BANDIDO FIRES A FINGER GUN AS OMEGA TUMBLES TO THE FLOOR!
Bandido's heads up top, Omega down and out... DOUBLE ROTATION MOONSAULT INTO DOUBLE KNEES! HE COULD'VE CAVED IN KENNY'S CHEST! ONE! KENNY KICKS OUT AT ONE! Bandido is in awe, and quickly heads to his legs to connect with a DEADLIFT BUCKLE BOMB! HOOK KICK! BRIDGING SAITO SUPLEX ON OMEGA, COVER MADE ONCE MORE... ONE! TWO! OMEGA KICKS OUT AGAIN! Bandido gets the waistlock and drives Omega into the ropes, setting him up... LEGSPRING OFF THE ROPES TO HIT THE 24 PLEX! ONE! TWO! THREE! BANDIDO HAS DEFEATED KENNY OMEGA! BANDIDO HAS DONE IT!
Bandido def. Kenny Omega (19:59)
On the Dominion promotional tour, Kenny's asked how he feels, since three of his last four singles outings have resulted in losses. He says he's disappointed, but determined. He's going to make it right, however he can, by facing whoever he must to prove that he's still the man to beat. For now, however, he's got to focus on the Elite, as they're defending their Six Man Titles on the last show before Dominion against Tomohiro Ishii and Roppongi 3K.

Best of the Super Juniors Finals
The Elite (c) vs CHAOS (Tomohiro Ishii and R3K) for the NEVER Openweight Six Man Titles
The Elite are out first, partying their way to the ring, with Omega looking notably less prepared than usual. He looks to be lacking confidence, and when CHAOS hit the scene, he looks to almost be dreading this defense. It seems the loss to Bandido took a lot out of him, and he even lets Matt Jackson start off against SHO.
SHO and Matt have the usual high-flying technical start, with frantic tags being made between Roppongi 3K and The Young Bucks, both Ishii and Omega staying out of the equation early on. Eventually, it comes down to SHO and Nick, with Matt having leaped out to the floor onto YOH, and SHO gets the upper hand with a Superkick and Hurricanrana, before calling for a Shock Arrow... and OMEGA FINALLY COMES IN TO BREAK THINGS UP! V TRIGGER TO SHO! RISE OF THE TERMINATOR TO THE OUTSIDE TO TAKE OUT YOH! Rolls back into the ring and calls on Nick... HOT TAG MADE TO BOTH OMEGA AND ISHII!
Omega rushes out with a shoulder tackle, but Ishii absorbs it and goes for a lariat, which Omega ducks before sending Ishii into the corner - Ishii catches Omega with a back elbow, but Omega hits a Yakuza Kick! Hauls Ishii up... AOI SHOUDOU! ONE! TWO! KICKOUT! Big Tom is in a bad way, and Omega has him on the back foot as he throws him into the ropes... ISHII FIRES BACK WITH A HEADBUTT! DDT ON OMEGA! Omega's woozy, and Ishii hauls him up for a Brainbuster, OMEGA KNEEING HIS WAY FREE! He charges for a V Trigger, but ISHII THROWS HIM UP AND HEADBUTTS HIM OUT OF THE SKY!
Ishii picks Omega up for a Driller, but Kenny drives him from the ring, sending both men to the floor, allowing BOTH BUCKS TO HIT A SUPERKICK! Kenny sends Ishii back in and HITS A 450 SPLASH! ONE! TWO! KICKOUT! Ishii gets up, and Omega goes for a V Trigger, but ISHII HITS A POWERBOMB BEFORE TAGGING IN YOH! YOH rushes in and goes right after Omega with a springboard dropkick, knocking Kenny flat. He picks Kenny up, but KENNY HITS A BRAINBUSTER!
Kenny tags Nick, who tags Matt, and the Bucks haul YOH up for a Meltzer Driver, OMEGA HITTING A V TRIGGER ON ISHII BEFORE PICKING UP SHO... MELTZER DRIVER AND ONE WINGED ANGEL CONNECT IN TANDEM! COVER! ONE! TWO! THREE! THE ELITE RETAIN!
The Elite def. CHAOS (Tomohiro Ishii and R3K) (11:09) to retain the NEVER Openweight Six Man Titles
After the match, the Bucks are cheering, and CHAOS head to the back, disappointed. Omega looked to return to form there, and he picks up his title when all of a sudden, some music he truly dreads hits, signalling the arrival of Hiroshi Tanahashi. The Ace makes his way to the ring, and lifts a microphone to his lips, only for OMEGA TO GRAB IT OUT OF HIS HANDS! "I know what you're gonna say... Dominion, right? Well... you're on, Ace."
After the show, Omega has an interview, where he explains that since Wrestle Kingdom, Tanahashi's been the bane of his existence. He's driven a wedge between he and Ibushi, which is why Ibushi won't be accompanying Omega at Dominion, he's been responsible for two of the worst losses of his career at Wrestle Kingdom and in the New Japan Cup, and he's sent him down this long road to failure. Now, at Dominion, he takes back the crown of Ace, no titles on the line, just to prove that he's better.

Dominion
Kenny Omega vs Hiroshi Tanahashi
Tanahashi is out first, the Ace looking happy as ever at the possibility of beating Omega for the third time that year. He waits for Omega, but it's not the happy go lucky "Battle Cry" Omega that comes out - we bring this back. The crowd are all on their feet in Osaka as Omega makes his way to the ring, truly the Cleaner once more, and stands down with Hiroshi Tanahashi. Both men are alone - just one on one, for pride, at Dominion. The bell rings, and we're underway.
The Ace locks up with the Cleaner for a test of strength. Omega gets Tana down to a knee, only for TANA TO SLAP OMEGA IN THE FACE! Omega scoffs and hits an overhead chop, followed by another knife edge to send Tana into the corner. Omega boots Tana in the stomach, and breaks out the Chainsaw Arms, causing The Ace to clutch his eyes before Omega goes back to business with a high knee and a snap suplex.
Commentary talks about the very real animosity between the two as Omega keeps bringing it to Tanahashi, laying in the strikes before going for an early Aoi Shoudou, which causes Tanahashi to drop down and HIT A CHOP BLOCK! Omega figured Tana would target the knee as he had at Wrestle Kingdom, but it doesn't make it hurt any less as THE ACE HITS A DRAGON SCREW! Omega pounds the mat but springs back up, refusing to go down that easily and hits a TONY JAA DOUBLE KNEE! Omega winces at the bad knee but keeps going, sending Tanahashi to the outside for a RISE OF THE TERMINATOR!
Kenny pulls Tanahashi back in by the hair and goes for a One Winged Angel, which Tanahashi SPINS OUT OF WITH A HURRICANRANA! Omega flies up and tries to keep control, but gets hit with a Dragon Screw, followed by a SLING BLADE! Omega falls from the ring... TANAHASHI WITH A DRAGON ROCKET DIVE! Now it's Tana sending Omega in, and he heads up top for a High Fly Flow... CONNECTS WITH A STANDING HIGH FLY FLOW! ONE! TWO! KENNY KICKS OUT!
Hiroshi leaps up and kicks Kenny's knee out, hauling him up for a STYLES CLASH! ONE! TWO! AGAIN KENNY KICKS OUT! Tanahashi is getting pretty far into his box of tricks, and throws Omega into the ropes for another Sling Blade, but OMEGA TURNS IT INTO A SPINNING SIDEWALK SLAM! Omega stumbles to the corner, and HITS A V TRIGGER! He ignores the pain in his knee as much as possible, and HITS ANOTHER V TRIGGER AGAINST THE ROPES! Hauls The Ace up... CROYT'S WRATH! ONE! TWO! KICKOUT!
Omega calls for a One Winged Angel, but Tanahashi COUNTERS INTO A DDT! He picks Kenny up and slaps him silly, hitting a TIGER SUPLEX! Omega's down on his face, and TANAHASHI GOES FOR THE CLOVERLEAF! Omega screams out, and manages to kick Tanahashi off, only to get hit with a SLING BLADE! Tanahashi LOCKS IN THE DRAGON SLEEPER!
Tanahashi has it in deep, and Kenny is crawling, desperate to not let it end like this... he scratches, claws... FINALLY GETTING TO THE ROPES! Tanahashi climbs up top... HIGH FLY FLOW TO THE BACK! COVER ON OMEGA! THIS MUST BE IT... ONE! TWO! THR-OMEGA WON'T DIE! Omega opens his eyes and wildly shakes his head, Tanahashi looking like he's seen a ghost! He picks Omega up for a Twist and Shout, but OMEGA HITS A REVERSE FRANKENSTEINER! RAIN TRIGGER FOR A NEARFALL! DOCTOR BOMB, AGAIN FOR TWO! WHAT DOES OMEGA HAVE TO DO?
Omega's up top, Tanahashi down and out... PHOENIX SPLASH, IN HOMAGE TO IBUSHI! ONE! TWO! TANAHASHI KICKS OUT! He picks Tanahashi up for a One Winged Angel... TANAHASHI FALLS FORWARD FOR A FALL IN LOVE CRADLE! THIS IS WHAT BEAT OMEGA LAST TIME... ONE! TWO! NOT THIS TIME! Tana grabs the wrists of Omega and calls for a Kamigoye, almost mocking Omega's best friend, but OMEGA DUCKS THE KNEE! TRAPS THE LEG AND STANDS UP, PULLING THE HEAD DOWN... OMEGA HITS A ONE WINGED ANGEL! ONE! TWO! THREE! OMEGA VANQUISHES HIS DEMONS!
Kenny Omega def. Hiroshi Tanahashi (23:23)
Kenny Omega has done it, he's beaten Tanahashi, and the Elite come out alongside Kota Ibushi to help him celebrate his win. He raises his arms high, and finally pulls out the finger gun, the symbolic "bang" being fired at the back to show that Kenny Omega - the Cleaner, the Best Bout Machine - isn't gone just yet.

Eurogamer - Martin Robinson Recommended ~ Recommended Perhaps not the greatest Yakuza game, but Kazuma Kiryu's farewell certainly makes for the most human. PS4
Digitally Downloaded - Matt Sainsbury 100 ~ 5 / 5 stars If there’s any justice in the world Yakuza 6 would sell millions of copies. It’s smart, sharp, often surreal, and always hugely entertaining. The game maintains the series’ penchant for reproducing the experience of being in a Japanese city to exacting details, and then overlays a brilliant, labyrinthine, wildly funny B-grade yakuza drama over the top. It’s the kind of game you just “live” in, and the perfect example of open world game design done right. PS4
Expansive - Ray Willmott 100 ~ 10 / 10 Without question, Yakuza 6 is one of the most enviable platform exclusive titles ever made because it just has everything you could ever wish for and more. A perfect send off for one of the greatest video game characters and gaming series of all time. PS4
CFG Games - Maximillian Ringgenberg 98 ~ 4.9 / 5 Yakuza 6: The Song of Life is an emotional bookend to a fantastic series. A few minor issues are overshadowed by a great story, fantastic game play, and a ton of side content. It's sad to see the main line games end but it gets a fitting ending. PS4
CGMagazine - Lane Martin 95 ~ 9.5 / 10 Yakuza 6: The Song of Life is everything I want in a Yakuza game, plus a baby… and a cat café. PS4
PlayStation Universe - John-Paul Jones 95 ~ 9.5 / 10 A rip-roaring conclusion to Kiryu's tale and the best entry in the Yakuza series to date, Yakuza 6 is a triumph that effortlessly cements its place in the pantheon of all-time JRPG greats. PS4
ZTGD - Jae Lee 95 ~ 9.5 / 10 It's an absolute emotional rollercoaster ride, packaged together with some of the best content the series has offered to date and polished to an absolute shine. PS4
PowerUp! - Leo Stevenson 95 ~ 9.5 / 10 Like a good book or a new show on Netflix, Yakuza 6 is something to be binged. Writing this Yakuza 6 review was a challenge because it forced me to stop playing. I really didn't want to. I mean I REALLY didn't want to stop playing. Yakuza 6 is the kind of game that lodges itself in your brain and doesn't let go. PS4
Geek Culture Podcast - Josh Garibay 95 ~ 9.5 / 10 Yakuza 6: The Song of Life brings Kazuma Kiryu's long-running tale to an end and does so on a high note. This is the wacky-yet-serious Yakuza vision fully realized, or at least it is damn close to it. Newcomers and established fans alike will find plenty to love in this father figure's quest for answers and revenge in a world where everything can be resolved with shirtless brawls. This powerful conclusion to the Dragon of Dojima's story must not be missed. PS4
Game Informer - Jeff Cork 93 ~ 9.3 / 10 Yakuza 6 delivers both quality and quantity, so saying goodbye to Kiryu doesn't feel rushed. PS4
Hobby Consolas - Hobby Consolas 93 ~ 93 / 100 We love Yakuza's story, its locations that seem "alive" and its many minigames (including classic Sega arcades such as Puyo Puyo, Virtua Fighter 5 or Super Hang On). The song of Life is the perfect ending for this saga. PS4
VGProfessional - Nazih Fares 90 ~ 9 / 10 The most beautiful experience in the series, YAKUZA 6: The Song of Life is great way to close the Kiryu's story in style, with a fun and long adventure, full of content and side activities. Even if you didn't play the previous games, you shouldn't miss this goofy yet also mature and serious game. PS4
GamingBolt - Pramath 90 ~ 9 / 10 Debates about whether or not Yakuza 6 is the best game in the franchise will probably rage on for a long time to come- but if nothing else, The Song of Life represents a franchise, a developer, and most of all, a character, at the peak of their talents. PS4
PlayStation LifeStyle - Tyler Treese 90 ~ 9 / 10 While it's slightly disappointing to see so many members of Yakuza‘s great ensemble cast take a back seat in Yakuza 6, it ultimately works out for the best. Song of Life is Kiryu's story and focusing on something larger would only be a disservice to one of gaming's most fully realized characters. It's only fitting that he bows out in Ryu ga Gotoku Studio's most mature and focused game. PS4
Hardcore Gamer - Jordan Helm 90 ~ 4.5 / 5 Aside from the most nitpicking of complaints, Yakuza 6 is but another declaration to the well-documented notion that Sega's decade-long series remains one of the finest, most consistent outings in the medium. PS4
EGM - Mollie L Patterson 90 ~ 9 / 10 It's taken me a long time to experience the Yakuza series, but Yakuza 6 makes me so thankful that I finally have. The insurmountable badass Kazuma Kiryu is surrounded by a fantastic cast of characters and some gripping drama—it's just a shame that the "game" portion of this video game isn't quite what it could be. Still, this is a superb adventure from beginning to end, and further proof of the magic that Japanese developers can weave when they put their minds to it. PS4
Game Revolution - Jason Faulkner 90 ~ 4.5 / 5 stars If you've played Yakuza in the past, I think you'll get a tremendous amount of enjoyment out of this game. If you haven't, do yourself a favor and grab Yakuza 0 and Yakuza Kiwami and play through both of them, then grab Yakuza 6 when it comes out. PS4
Gameblog - Rudy Jean-François - French 90 ~ 9 / 10 We could not have thought of a better way to end Kiryu Kazuma's adventures. More than a simple GTA clone, Yakuza 6 is a generous game which will provide you with hundred hours of an amazing gaming experience. You will never be bored with the never ending amount of content available in this game. Moreover, Japanese culture enthusiasts will have a great time hanging out in a very well modelized versions of Hiroshima and Kabukicho. A must have! PS4
GameMAG - xtr - Russian 90 ~ 9 / 10 Yakuza 6: Song of Life is a very deep and exciting game with a great sense of humor and strange, but fun side quests. Fans for sure won't be disappointed. PS4
TrustedReviews - Jordan King 90 ~ 4.5 / 5 stars Yakuza 6: The Song of Life is a wonderful crime thriller that embraces everything that made the series great, refining it further with new technology – it blew me away. I’m not ashamed to say that the closing minutes of Kazuma Kiryu’s final chapter brought me to tears, acting as the culmination of a story in which I’ve lost myself for more than a decade. Don’t let this legacy dissuade you, though. Yakuza 6 is perfectly suited for newcomers thanks to its excellent reminisce feature alongside combat and exploration that’s easily the series’ best yet. Combine this with a deep, engaging story and Yakuza 6 offers an experience I can’t recommend enough. PS4
Push Square - Robert Ramsey 90 ~ 9 / 10 Yakuza 6: The Song of Life tells a truly gripping tale – a story that blows most games out of the water. Combine that with a refined combat system and a new engine capable of making the game's world feel more alive than ever, and you've got a stellar Yakuza title. Although the experience does feel a little stunted in places outside of the main plot, this is still a fitting final chapter. Yakuza 6 is a gloriously dramatic send off for one of the greatest characters in modern gaming. PS4
Gamers Heroes - Captain Camper 90 ~ 9 / 10 Yakuza 6: The Song of Life builds on every asset of the franchise, and improves it without sacrificing the games character and individuality. Whether you’re a first-time player or a long-time veteran, Yakuza 6: The Song of Life is arguably the greatest Yakuza game to date. PS4
GamesRadar+ - Alex Avard 90 ~ 4.5 / 5 stars A touching finale for Kazuma Kiryu, Yakuza 6 manages to surprise and delight in equal measure. PS4
Gadgets 360 - Rishi Alwani 90 ~ 9 / 10 All in all, thanks to its fantastic story, memorable cast, and more than competent gameplay, Yakuza 6 is an apt send off for the hero of one of the more criminally underrated franchises. PS4
GearNuke - Khurram Imtiaz 90 ~ 9 / 10 Yakuza 6: The Song of Life is a good example of how to handle a series with multiple sequels. It builds on its strength to offer a satisfying conclusion to the story of Kazuma Kiryu. PS4
God is a Geek - Chris White 90 ~ 9 / 10 Yakuza 6 is a fitting end to a great saga, with fantastic combat and lots to do outside the main story PS4
Backlog Critic - Jonathan Lightwood 90 ~ 9 / 10 Sega have crafted an experience that rarely falters, whether in regards to its story, its characters or its gameplay. This isn’t just a brilliant Yakuza game. Yakuza 6: The Song of Life is a superb game in its own right, and may very well be an early contender for the best of 2018. PS4
Quillstreak - Jordan Oloman 89 ~ 89 / 100 Overall, Yakuza 6: The Song Of Life is a feature-length absurdity-laden romp that is the perfect silly antidote for first-timers and a pleasing development of the series for fans. With a multitude of systems, meaningful progression and side quests to fill your boots with, you will struggle to get bored and always find yourself craving your next knockout fix. PS4
Gaming Nexus - Eric Hauter 88 ~ 8.8 / 10 Yakuza 6: The Song of Life wraps up the story of Kazuma Kiryu with the same sense of style and attention to quality the series has always maintained. By alternating erratically between deadly serious crime stories, and wildly goofball side activities, Yakuza strikes an entertaining sweet spot that few other series manage. Players should set aside a lot of time before engaging with Yakuza, because like the mob, this is a game that will keep pulling you back in. PS4
Gaming Gamma - Gaming Gamma 88 ~ 8.8 / 10 Yakuza 6 is easily the most immersive video game I have ever played, and is just a lot of fun. The amount of times I couldn't help but smile while playing this game is a testament to the fact of how much I enjoyed myself. While the game does has its flaws, SEGA has once again delivered a fantastic game that is easily one of the best games currently out this year. PS4
DualShockers - Giuseppe Nelva 85 ~ 8.5 / 10 Ultimately, it's a great sendoff for one of the best characters of the history of Japanese games (and of gaming as a whole), and while Kazuma Kiryu isn't going to disappear due to the upcoming remake, I can definitely say that I'm going to miss my stern and stoic best friend with a heart of gold. PS4
Polygon - Jeffrey Parkin 85 ~ 8.5 / 10 Even with my criticisms of the admittedly optional and inconsequential aspects of the game, Yakuza 6 succeeds because its core story is so compelling. PS4
Easy Allies - Michael Huber 85 ~ 8.5 / 10 Yakuza 6 is undeniably one of the best entries in the long-running series. Memorable side quests and engaging mini-games offer countless diversions and emotional encounters. The combat becomes routine, but the personal struggle of Kazuma Kiryu brings a satisfying and remarkable conclusion for the legendary Dragon of Dojima. Written PS4
IGN Italy - Francesco Destri - Italian 85 ~ 8.5 / 10 Yakuza 6 does not invent anything new compared to the past and the lack of many iconic characters of the saga shouldn't be understimated, but despite this the final chapter of Kazuma Kiryu's adventures remains one of the best Yakuza ever. PS4
The Games Machine - Mirko Marangon - Italian 85 ~ 8.5 / 10 Like its predecessors, Yakuza 6 is a beautiful, engaging and deep title. Nonetheless, after seven main chapters, countless spin-offs, remastered versions and remakes, a slight whiff of deja vu is almost inescapable. Having said that, The Song of Life is a great conclusion for an unforgettable saga. PS4
IGN Spain - Javi Andrés - Spanish 85 ~ 8.5 / 10 The Yakuza series is held again in its 3 main pillars in this The Song of Life: many activities and mini-games, deep combats, and a wonderful storytelling that ends the era of Kazuma Kyriu and it serves to draw the new horizon towards where Sega goes to. PS4
GamingTrend - Patrick Rost 85 ~ 85 / 100 Yakuza 6: The Song of Life is a beautiful game, plays smooth, and has a story that is genuinely compelling and driven by top notch dialogue and dynamic characters. The fighting is complex but easy to learn, and the game provides tons of great content in the form of mini-games, town exploration, and side storylines. There is lots to look at and take in as you play, and the game packs a lot of good into a nearly flawless package. PS4
RPG Fan - Robert Steinman 85 ~ 85 / 100 Yakuza 6 keeps the focus on what's important and also shows a lot of great potential for what's to come next. PS4
Sirus Gaming - Gareth Newnham 85 ~ 8.5 / 10 It’s a new era for Yakuza, both in game and out. Yakuza 6; The Song of Life may not be the grandiose send-off that some fans may have wanted, but it’s a fitting conclusion to Kiryu’s story and thanks to the new engine one that not only makes old favourites feel new again but make me look forward to the future. PS4
GBAtemp - Krista Noren 83 ~ 8.3 / 10 Yakuza 6 is a wonderful, heartfelt conclusion to Kiryu's story, offering a hilariously fun and unique experience for both long-time fans and newcomers. While this isn't the best entry in the series, it's still an incredibly solid title that anyone with a PlayStation 4 should pick up. PS4
COGconnected - Patrick Anderson 82 ~ 82 / 100 This may be the Dragon of Dojima’s last kick at the franchise, but he leaves on a high note that will satisfy the yakuza in all of us. PS4
Worth Playing - Chris "Atom" DeAngelus 80 ~ 8 / 10 Yakuza 6 is a solid entry in the franchise. It's carried by a strong story and excellent visuals that make up for the fact that it's a fairly bare-bones Yakuza title that has less content than other titles in the series. Fans of the franchise should find a lot to like in Yakuza 6. It's not the best entry for a newcomer due to it being the end of Kiryu's story, but it's a solid and enjoyable game. PS4
USgamer - Mike Williams 80 ~ 4 / 5 stars Yakuza 6: The Song of Life might be the end of Kazuma Kiryu's story, but it represents a new step in the series. PS4
GameSpot - Edmond Tran 80 ~ 8 / 10 Exciting changes to combat and an endearing narrative see the final chapter in Kazuma Kiryu's decade-long saga refine what has made the series great. PS4
Gameplanet - Ben Wilson 80 ~ 8 / 10 Yakuza 6 delivers the series' signature poignant story, and is probably the best Yakuza has been narrative and production-wise. However, the game's trademark diversions have been trimmed back. PS4
RPG Site - Kazuma Hashimoto 80 ~ 8 / 10 In the end, I found my experience with Yakuza 6: The Song of Life to be incredibly satisfying when everything came together. The final chapter in the story of the Dragon of Dojima was a compelling experience and remained just that even a year after the original release. Yakuza 6: The Song of Life has an incredibly bittersweet ending, and the narrative twists and turns that brought me there, left me feeling satisfied with the close of Kazuma Kiryu’s story. PS4
The Game Fanatics - Tyler Chancey 80 ~ 8 / 10 Yakuza 6: The Song of Life has a formula that works and sticks to it. The main adventure can be completed in about twenty hours. Both Kamurocho and Onomichi pulls you in with such distinct and eye-catching content. And while the developers go right up to the line with it, how they treat Kazuma Kiryu’s departure from the series is treated with just enough ceremony and dignity to be an event for fans that stuck with him since the beginning. If you can groove on a game that takes its time with cutscenes and characters, ignore some subpar visuals in some spots, and have a love for gangland crime thrillers mixed with high-octane martial arts madness, this is the game for you. PS4
Spaziogames - Jgor Masera - Italian 80 ~ 8 / 10 The story, contents and gameplay are unquestionably of a good standard, but it was not what we wanted from the final game of Kiryu Kazuma, who we were so fond of during these 12 years. PS4
Rice Digital - Opale 80 ~ 4 / 5 stars Overall, this sixth episode is a nice conclusion for Kiryu storywise, but I felt many things were lacking in gameplay compared to Yakuza 0: lifeless face expressions, less variety of combos and fighting styles, fewer mini-games, and so on. On the other hand, seamless battles and exploration are welcome changes in the series. PS4
Guardian - Chris Schilling 80 ~ 4 / 5 stars Kazuma Kiryu's final outing is an emotionally charged tale of familial bonds and the violence that threatens to rip them asunder. PS4
VideoGamer - Colm Ahern 80 ~ 8 / 10 Fighting and exploring is more free than ever, and the story, while wanting in certain areas, introduces a few great characters. Some activities and side missions lack a punch, but how many games do you get to wear a giant orange on your head? PS4
Cerealkillerz - Daniel Schwab - German 80 ~ 8 / 10 Yakuza 6: The Song of Life convinces with excellent storytelling while staying true to the Yakuza-formula which worked well in the past. While repetitive combat prevents it from being one of the greats, it is still a definite recommendation for action-adventure fans and players who enjoyed the previous titles in the franchise. PS4
GamesBeat - Stephanie Chan 75 ~ 75 / 100 Yakuza 6 has an ambitious narrative, alternating between lighthearted and dramatic. Unfortunately, it doesn't give its characters enough love and care to truly pull off the pathos. But its sense of humor is impeccable. Its protagonist is lovable. And Sega has created a world with plenty to do. PS4
TechRaptor - Georgina Young 75 ~ 7.5 / 10 Yakuza 6 is a great game because it's a Yakuza game, but it's not a great Yakuza game. It still has the great brawler action the series is known for, and a tight put together story. However, the tightening of the narrative in no ways makes up for all the great things I missed out on from the previous game. PS4
IGN - Tristan Ogilvie 75 ~ 7.5 / 10 Yakuza 6: The Song of Life presents the most detailed virtual chunk of Japan the series has managed to date, and its story provides a satisfying end to the Kizama Kiryu saga. However, as far as gameplay goes, Yakuza 6 doesn't make enough of an effort to break new ground, making it weaker overall than last year's Yakuza Zero. PS4
Stevivor - Matt Gosper 75 ~ 7.5 / 10 All in all, this is a Yakuza game – and while that may seem like a trueism, it holds up. PS4
Attack of the Fanboy - Jelani James 70 ~ 3.5 / 5 stars Yakuza 6: The Song of Life brings a satisfying end to Kazuma Kiryu's story, but it's not quite the send off I expected. Between its convoluted systems and cut content, it didn't feel like the saga ended with a roar, but with a whimper. PS4
Destructoid - Peter Glagowski 70 ~ 7 / 10 Given more development time, this could have been the definitive entry in the series, but what we're left with is good enough. Hopefully Kiwami 2 can make some necessary improvements, because the groundwork set by the Dragon Engine is just awesome. PS4
Metro GameCentral - GameCentral 70 ~ 7 / 10 A slightly underwhelming end to the legend of Kazuma Kiryu, but the changes in gameplay and graphics do hold a lot of promise for the future. PS4
Slant Magazine - Steven Scaife 60 ~ 6 / 10 Yakuza 6 isn't just billed as running on a new engine; it's also meant to be Kiryu's last starring role. Sega is clearly trying to capitalize on last year's newcomer-friendly prequel and remake to sell this newest installment, hoping that the franchise will get a serious foothold in the West. In many ways, the game is a transition. But despite maintaining the endearing parts of the franchise that make it so refreshing amid a glut of solipsistic sandboxes, Yakuza 6's many concessions show that it isn't an entirely comfortable one. Shinsuke Nakamura's Retirement - Part 1: King vs Conqueror

Shinsuke Nakamura is one of the greatest wrestlers in the world today; an under-appreciated talent due to being not used to the fullest of his abilities, and has just officially became a 17-year veteran today. He is the youngest IWGP Heavyweight Champion, a G1 Climax Winner, 5-time IWGP Intercontinental Champion, a former NXT Champion, United States Champion, Royal Rumble Winner, the reigning Intercontinental Champion, and a WON HOF’er. The charismatic King of Strong Style has done almost everything in NJPW and WWE. This booking will help rebuild him to his former glory, and give him the proper send-off that he deserves.

After not being booked for a match at SummerSlam, Nakamura appears less often, not being booked for Clash of Champions too. The fans become frustrated, as it seems to be the same situation Nakamura found himself in one year ago with the US Championship. People tweet #WeWantNakamura, sticking up for the former NXT Champion. He makes a rare appearance on a WWE.com exclusive, where Cathy Kelley asks Nakamura where he’s been, and what’s next for him. Nakamura takes a deep sigh, before walking off.
Over on RAW, following Lesnar’s loss to Rollins in the SummerSlam main event, Heyman creates a shield to protect Lesnar, in the form of Cesaro, and his partner, Kassius Ohno. Heyman offers Nakamura a spot in the faction, stating that times are changing, as seen with the likes of the OC, bonding together to achieve common goals. He says that he can bring back Nakamura to his former glory over on RAW, but Nakamura chuckles and walks off.
Nakamura is also approached by Daniel Bryan, who offers Nakamura a spot in the Planeteers, stating that Nakamura could use a mouthpiece to convey his emotions better, and good partners to take him on an upward spiral, whilst looking out for him. Swagsuke takes a moment to consider, before walking off with a sly smirk.

The big FOX debut episode is here, with huge names making appearances, such as The Rock and The Undertaker, but an important talking point of the show is Nakamura. During the show, a video package airs, running through the career highlights of Nakamura (including his main roster accolades), introducing both old and new members of the WWE Universe to the Nakamura people have been itching to see. At the end of the video, a graphic airs: ‘The King of Strong Style returns in 2 weeks’. This creates buzz on social media, with people hoping to see Nakamura finally be given a chance to redeem himself, after their months of tweeting.
Meanwhile, Daniel Bryan finally went where he hasn’t been before. After defeating Roman Reigns in a Hell in a Cell match, he makes a shocking appearance on RAW, during a Rollins/Lesnar segment. Heyman is ready to make another rematch official for Survivor Series, but Bryan and Rowan ambush Lesnar and the Kings of Wrestling. They are still outnumbered 2 against 3, leading many to expect Nakamura to make his return on RAW, seeing as 2 weeks have passed, and the offer from Bryan is pending, but he doesn’t show up. As it seems Lesnar & KoW will dominate them, Rollins evens the playing field, helping Bryan hold them back with his signature brand of offense. But Bryan takes the assault to the next level, brutalising Lesnar by hyperextending the arm to the point of almost snapping it in two, as security run down to hold the rabid Bryan off. Lesnar, Heyman & KoW retreat, leaving Bryan and Rollins face-to-face. It seems the teaming was only temporary, as the Universal Champion begins to walk off, satisfied about turning back an undeserved challenge from the part-timer, but not taking any responsibility for injuring the Beast. However, Bryan wouldn’t have it any other way, as he has taken out both Reigns & Lesnar, firmly proving the insane lengths he’s willing to go to become world champion, and in this case, Universal Champion. A Rollins/Bryan title match is later made official for Survivor Series.

BUILD TO SURVIVOR SERIES
Nakamura delivers on his words, making his first official appearance on SmackDown in months. However, it seems that things have changed, as he comes out to his original theme music, wearing his signature ring jacket. The IC Champion cuts a promo, using his charisma to cover his shortage of English, conveying that he moved from Japan to USA to make himself a bigger star, and began living up to his name, winning the NXT Championship and the Royal Rumble. But it all came crashing down when he faced Styles at Mania. A man he once beat in Japan became the man that caused him to doubt his abilities. He had a rough 2017, and the loss to Styles made his confidence fall. He started taking shortcuts, winning the United States Championship with a Low Blow, but then wasn’t even deemed good enough to be booked for the PPVs. He started to lose motivation. He had a failed tag team run, and now, he’s Intercontinental Champion, but still stuck in the same rut he was in last year. The King of Strong Style became irrelevant, making him fear that he would have to retire... but no. He wants to be the best again. He wants to be the King again. He wants to be a worthy Champion again. And to prove himself, he needs to beat a Champion who’s currently on the top of their game. Someone... Phenomenal. He shoots a challenge to the man who started his downfall, AJ Styles, but when he goes for his signature ‘YEAOH’, he pauses, and shakes his head, before walking off. He believes he’s not worthy of that yet.
Over on RAW, Styles shows no interest to the challenge from Nakamura. When prodded after the show by Sarah Schreiber, he says that he once respected Nakamura, until he pulled that stunt at Mania. Nakamura is a washed-up part timer, who should’ve gone through with the retirement. He’s not the same man anymore. He’s gone soft, and lacks his former killer instinct. So, he refuses.
Nakamura is irked by Styles’ comments, wanting to prove that he still has his killer instinct. On SD, Owens approaches Nakamura to offer a spot for his Survivor Series’ team against Shane, but Nakamura responds with a vicious Kinshasa to lay Owens out. This leads to a match for the night’s main event, which Shane interferes in, distracting Owens long enough for Nakamura to hit a Kinshasa. But to prove his point, he dials in a second Kinshasa to leave Owens laying. If that wasn’t enough of a statement, he also lays out Shane with a Kinshasa due to him interfering in the match. Shane sells the lethal move by taking a week off, before coming down to the ring the following week, wearing a neck brace. Overwhelmed by Nakamura’s new streak of defiance, Shane tries to fire Nakamura, but Nakamura plays it cool with his swagger, reminding him that he’s one of SD’s champions, causing Shane to back down and cool his hothead. Shane asks Nakamura what he wants, and Nakamura replies with ‘AJ Styles’. Shane is tempted by the idea of getting one over RAW, and over Shane’s former rival, AJ Styles. Shane tries to hide his giddiness at the prospect of killing two birds with one stone, but also remembers that this is the same man who embarrassed him in front of the millions watching. He tells Nakamura ‘he’ll think about it’, but Nakamura isn’t willing to wait.
AJ Styles tries to cut a promo on RAW, gloating about how great of a champion he is, but is constantly interrupted by Nakamura chants, causing him to snap. He challenges anyone to step up and face him for the United States Championship, so he can show what a true champion looks like, and expose Nakamura as a fraud. He is answered by a figure running out from the crowd, decking Styles with a flying knee to the back of the head, before quickly scrambling out of the ring. IT’S NAKAMURA! The OC try to avenge Styles by giving chase to Nakamura, but he’s too fast, evading them, before running back in to deliver a Kinshasa, and run back out through the crowd, grinning as he fires a mocking finger gun to Styles, shouting ‘KILLER INSTINCT!’. Backstage, Heyman is fuming at the sight of Nakamura, the man who turned down his offer to be a Paul Heyman Guy, and a man possibly in cahoots with Bryan, who injured Lesnar. He throws papers everywhere in a fit of rage, and is soon joined by the OC, Styles being dragged along. The US Champ slurs the words, ‘Give me Nakamura’, before slumping back to the ground, everything a haze after the vicious Knee To Face.
On SD, Nakamura is forced to defend his title against Heyman’s right hand man, Cesaro, but it only helps Nakamura’s case, as he pulls through with a victory in a hard-hitting affair. However, the night is not over for Nakamura, as the OC invade SmackDown, hitting the ring to close the show. Styles utterly decimates Nakamura as revenge for RAW, battering his spine with a steel chair, before getting his fellows to hit a Magic Killer on Nakamura onto the chair. He finishes the assault with an Avalanche Styles Clash, kneeling over the bloodied body of his foe with a finger gun pressed against his head, shouting ‘THIS IS KILLER INSTINCT!’, before stomping on the IC Championship. After the show, a bloodied Nakamura is found, dragging himself through the backstage area, until he finally slumps to the floor, covered in a crimson mask. He is approached by the medical staff, but Nakamura wards them off, instead pulling in the camera. He states that he has sacrificed blood, sweat and tears for this industry, and he thanks Styles for the brutal assault, because it only served as a reminder to Nakamura of what he has to do to win. He will bleed until there is no blood left in his body, and ultimately, will prevail over Styles, bringing back the King of Strong Style. Styles sends a final message to Nakamura by defeating Cedric Alexander by referee stoppage when he shatters Alexander’s leg with a Pilmaniser. On the go home show, a video package airs, recapping the feud between Nakamura and Styles, whilst hyping this up as their final encounter.

Survivor Series
Earlier in the night, Nakamura bumps into Bryan backstage, who is preparing for his match with Rollins. They share a tense stare, before heading their separate ways. Nakamura and Styles occupy the semi-main event slot, getting a video package to sell their rivalry. They sport their respective brand’s colours, but for more than loyalty reasons, trying to get the early mind games in by wearing their foe’s primary colours. Surprisingly, Styles leaves the OC in the back, coming out alone with his Unites States Championship. Nakamura carries his Intercontinental Championship, prepared to prove that he’s not some washed-up afterthought, but a worthy champion. They wrestle a match more in line with their WrestleKingdom match, using ligament-tearing submissions and hard-hitting strikes. They kick off hot with multiple finisher teases, but each attempt gets countered, playing up their familiarity with each other. In the early portions of the match, Styles runs circles around Nakamura, barely letting him get in any offense as he grinds away on the leg, setting up his patented Calf Crusher. He lands a Dropkick, a Ushigoroshi, and a Starmaker, before going for a cocky cover, with one foot on Nakamura’s chest, but Nakamura kicks out. Styles taunts his downed foe, firing the bullet at him, but to his surprise, Nakamura responds ever so charismatically, convulsing as if struck with a real bullet. Styles, amused, fires again, and Nakamura responds again, but with more intensity. Styles fires a third, but to his chagrin, he only seems to be firing up Nakamura, who convulses more and more, until he springs to his feet to catch the bullet in his mouth, and spit it back at Styles, before doing his ‘COME ON!’ taunt.
Styles is livid, but does what he believes to be the smart option, rolling out of the ring. However, Nakamura has it scouted, delivering a huge CORKSCREW PLANCHA! Nakamura starts to have his way with Styles, laying Styles on the apron for a Running Knee Lift, followed by a Guillotine Knee Drop. He throws Styles back into the ring, slowly cementing his return as the ‘King of Strong Style’ with the Good Vibrations, followed by rapid Shoot Kicks and Forearms to daze Styles. They get into a striking fest, in which Styles tries to pull out the Phenomenal Blitz, but Nakamura ducks the final lariat, throwing a Forearm. They both collapse as Styles hits a Pele Kick. Nakamura turns up the heat with stiffer strikes, wanting to prove he still has his ‘killer instinct’. At one point, Nakamura goes for the Kinshasa, but Styles exposes the turnbuckles, sending Nakamura’s knee crashing into the metal, before locking in an agonising CALF CRUSHER! Nakamura spends a lengthy amount of time, scratching and clawing, until he finally meets the ropes. Styles has a look of confidence on his face, looking to end the match, but when Nakamura returns to his feet with a ticked off expression, Styles changes to worry. Nakamura charges at Styles, rushing him into the corner to deliver repeated stomps, having to be dragged off by the referee, but he continues the attack, laying Styles on the turnbuckle to uncork a vicious knee to the midsection. He throws out Grounded Knee Strikes, crushing the ribs of Styles, and causing the Phenomenal One to start coughing up blood. Styles has brought out the scary side of Nakamura. Nakamura takes Styles to the top, delivering an AVALANCHE LANDSLIDE! 1…2…KICK OUT! Nakamura lands an Inverted Exploder Suplex, and goes for the Kinshasa again, but Styles counters it with a PHENOMENAL FOREARM! 1…2…NOOOO! Styles attempts a second Phenomenal Forearm, but Nakamura catches him mid-flight with a FLYING CROSS ARMBREAKER! STYLES COUNTERS INTO A STYLES CLASH ATTEMPT! But Styles can’t hook the arms! Styles gets a malicious grin on his face, as he attempts to drop Nakamura on his head with a Hollow Point, but Nakamura sees it coming, escaping to hit a KINSHASA!
Both men struggle over to opposite ring aprons. They have an epic staredown, before they both SPRINGBOARD OFF THE ROPES! STYLES HITS A PHENOMENAL FOREARM, BUT NAKAMURA ALSO LANDS A KINSHASA! They have a nail-biting double down, barely answering the referee’s 10 count, before slugging it out with forearms. The finish comes when the OC run out to distract the referee, allowing Styles to punt Nakamura low, as revenge for WM 34, before taking him to the top turnbuckle, hitting an INVERTED AVALANCHE STYLES CLASH! Styles is worn out and incensed, having inadvertently knocked out the referee, so he resorts to one final measure to get the job done. He goes out of the ring and grabs a steel chair, bringing it back in. He wraps it around Nakamura’s leg, teasing a Pilmaniser, proving he has more killer instinct. The commentators play up how Styles can hospitalise Nakamura like Alexander on RAW, but as Styles winds up for the killer stomp… NAKAMURA TRAPS STYLES IN THE SHINING TRIANGLE! The chair digs into Styles, multiplying the pain, until finally Nakamura releases, having suffered significant damage to his leg already, removing the chair from the ring. Styles begins coughing up more blood, allowing Nakamura to capitalise, hitting a KAMIGOYE! But he’s not done yet, as he flies off of the top rope, hitting a KINSHASA TO THE BACK OF STYLES’ HEAD! At this point, Styles’ face is stained red, along with the canvas below him. Nakamura lets out one final battle cry, delivering another killer KINSHASA! 1…2…3! Nakamura has successfully defeated Styles after an absolute barnburner. The King of Strong Style is officially back! Things come full circle when they share a fist bump of respect.
In the night’s main event, a pissed off Brock Lesnar makes his return, ending the Rollins/Bryan match in a No Contest, laying them out with F5s.

BUILD TO TLC
On SD, Nakamura comes out to rapturous applause. He cuts a brief promo, claiming that the King of Strong Style is back, and he looks forward to defending his title. As he gets ready to do the ‘YEAOH’, he’s interrupted by Aleister Black, coming hot off of a win against Randy Orton. Black strolls down to the ring, mic in hand, stating that he heard Nakamura is looking for his next challenger, and here he is. No one has been able to defeat him yet, so it makes sense that he should be the next to step up to the Intercontinental Champion. Nakamura accepts the challenge, and the match is made official.
The following week, Black cuts a backstage promo, running through the list of names he’s taken out with his lethal Black Mass: Cesaro, Sami Zayn, Dolph Ziggler, Chad Gable, and Randy Orton. Nakamura is merely another adversary, but one with higher stakes. He respects Nakamura as a former NXT Champion, but promises not to hold back. He claims that he will make Nakamura Fade To Black, and win the title to quench the devilish hunger inside of him. Later in the night, Nakamura gets a win over Apollo Crews in a clash of styles, as Nakamura uses his stiff strikes and variety of submissions to counter the powerful and athletic style of his foe, ending with a beheading Kinshasa.
In the final pieces of build, Black also gets some momentum heading into TLC by getting a win over Buddy Murphy, knocking him out with a Black Mass. After the match, the lights go out, but when they return, Nakamura is seated in the ring in front of Black, taunting him with his Championship. Black, not one to be deterred by the mind games, also sits down, beckoning Nakamura to ‘Come On’. Nakamura laughs him off, rolling back to his feet, before teasing a Kinshasa, but walks away instead, patting Black on the head. Black responds by kipping up and swinging his leg, stopping at Nakamura’s neck, as Nakamura is caught off guard by the Black Mass attempt. The two stare each other down, seemingly ready to fight, but the referee separates the two, as they jack jaws on either side. There were no animosities, but it seems things have been taken up a notch.

TLC
As expected, this is a brutal striking affair between two MMA specialists. They both make their captivating entrances to the ring, and as soon as the bell rings, they are at each other’s throats, throwing strikes. There is no feeling out process, as the dream match pans out how one could only hope; a smorgasbord of ugly strikes. Nakamura pulls out his signature Stepover Spinning Heel Kick, followed by multiple Shoot Kicks and a Diving Yakuza Kick. Black fires back with Roundhouse Kicks and a Discus Knee Strike that knocks the champ woozy. Nakamura retreats to the outside, and Black feigns the dive, instead moonsaulting into the seated position. Nakamura comes flying in with Sliding Busaiku Knee, but receives an Axe Kick for his troubles. Black whips Nakamura across the ring with a Saito Suplex, but Nakamura no-sells it, hitting a Northern Lights Suplex. Black gets up and caves Nakamura’s chest in with a Shoot Kick, before dropping him with a BRAINBUSTER for a near fall. Black takes Nakamura to the corner and tries for his own Good Vibrations, but Nakamura traps the leg and hits a SITOUT POWERBOMB for a close count.
Nakamura locks Black into a REAR NAKED CHOKE, but Black escapes with Back Elbows, followed by a Standing Cutter, transitioning into a DRAGON SLAYER! Nakamura escapes the submission by getting his foot onto the ropes, but Black is quick to respond with a DEADLIFT GERMAN SUPLEX, followed by a SPRINGBOARD MOONSAULT to the outside! He throws Nakamura back in for 2 ½, continuing the fight. Black lifts up Nakamura’s head with his foot, a prelude to the end, but Nakamura escapes with a Bicycle Knee Strike, followed by a SHINING WIZARD! He pops the hips to deliver a BRIDGING DRAGON SUPLEX for 2 ¾! Nakamura sets up his own finisher, hitting the Inverted Exploder Suplex, before running in for the Kinshasa... BUT BLACK REVERSES INTO A BLOOD MOON STOMP! Black soars off of the top ropes with Double Knees, but Nakamura catches him on his shoulders, delivering a LANDSLIDE NECKBREAKER! Both men lay exhausted on the mat, slowly pulling themselves up by the ropes, disgust marked on their faces, before getting into a strike-off, sending the match back to square one. Nakamura gets in his combination forearms, but Black responds with his own chain of moves, trying to finish off with the knee strike, but Nakamura catches it, whipping him around for a GERMAN SUPLEX! Nakamura goes behind and delivers a REAR KINSHASA! He looks to finish things off, going up to the top rope for another KINSHASA… BUT BLACK REVERSES INTO A BLACK MASS! Black lifts up the dazed King of Strong Style, before delivering another BLACK MASS! 1…2…3! ALEISTER BLACK IS THE NEW INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPION!
The Devil’s Envoy sits in the ring with his newly won championship, as a shocked Nakamura stumbles out of the ring and to the back. The King of Strong Style’s return to the top was only starting, but was cut short by Black. Nevertheless, he managed to notch a 154-day reign, 1 day behind the legendary Ric Flair, and pulled out a classic dream match in the process.

BUILD TO ROYAL RUMBLE
Nakamura isn’t seen on TV for the rest of 2019, selling the brutality of suffering consecutive Black Masses, whilst taking time to refocus his mind and move on. On the first SmackDown of the new year, Nakamura is scheduled for a Royal Rumble Qualifier against old foe, Shelton Benjamin. He cuts a recorded promo, stating that he was stunned and frustrated by his loss at TLC, feeling he was on a new chapter, only to lose the IC Championship. But now that he has that weight off of his chest, he has to move forward, and with the Royal Rumble approaching, he has a chance to win the match for the second time and head for another WM world title match. Either brand looks interesting, especially RAW, having history with Universal Champion Seth Rollins, and his challengers Daniel Bryan and Brock Lesnar. But if opportunity presents itself again, he won’t make the same mistake twice, and will go for Lesnar. Later in the night, Nakamura wins his match over Benjamin, successfully qualifying.
In the following weeks, Nakamura takes time off to go home and train for the Rumble. This plays host to some videos, where he goes to Japan, visiting the Tokyo Dome and playing up its importance to him in his early portions of his career, even recalling his loss to Lesnar that changed his perspective on wrestling. He is then shown doing MMA training, and fighting in Dojos, even doing some samurai training. Finally, he is shown taking in the Japanese culture, eating the local cuisine, and meeting friends and family, who are all rooting for Nakamura to win.

Royal Rumble
Earlier in the night, Nakamura bumps into Bryan again, wishing him good luck on his match this time, and Bryan returns the favour. The Universal Championship Triple Threat is a wild ride, ending with Daniel Bryan on top, winning his first UV Title. In the night’s main event, Nakamura enters at #11, gaining 3 eliminations over the course of the match. But things turn sour over the course of his run, as the Kings of Wrestling enter, circling Nakamura. He yells at them to ‘COME ON!’, but as much as he tries to fight back, the double team proves to be too much, as they run through him with brutal strikes. It seems Heyman sent them after Nakamura, wanting revenge for Nakamura beating Styles, and for rejecting his offer. Additionally, his client was defeated by Bryan, who Heyman is still dead set on that Nakamura is working together with. If 2-on-1 wasn’t enough, a pissed off Lesnar charges down to the ring as the buzzer rings, cleaning house, before joining his cohorts to destroy Nakamura. Lesnar starts shouting at Nakamura that he’ll teach him a lesson, referencing to Nakamura’s statements on Lesnar during the previous weeks. Lesnar roughs up Nakamura with knees to the gut, before hitting him with multiple F5s, tossing out the battered Nakamura out of the ring for the elimination. Nakamura eyes are glazed over, having lost his senses, causing the medical team to have to stretcher out Nakamura. The match is eventually won by Finn Balor.

BUILD TO ELIMINATION CHAMBER
After the horrific assault by Lesnar & the Kings of Wrestling, Nakamura isn’t seen in the build to the next PPV. Meanwhile, as Lesnar tries to target the new Universal Champion, Daniel Bryan, Rollins & Balor aid him in holding off the Beast Incarnate, wanting the title for themselves. Rollins is out for revenge, having not been pinned, and demands a match for Elimination Chamber, which he is granted, whilst Balor makes official that he’s coming for the Universal Championship. Lesnar is finally suspending for his continuous recklessness and destruction. Over on SD, the WWE Championship WM title picture is vacant, leading to the announcement of a #1 Contender EC match.

Elimination Chamber
Earlier in the night, Daniel Bryan retains his Universal Championship against Seth Rollins. But in the main event, the Chamber match takes place. As the final pod entrant, Buddy Murphy comes out to be locked in, he is blindsided by Lesnar, who delivers an F5 to the Juggernaut, trying to take his spot in the match, despite being suspended. Security runs down trying to restrain Lesnar, but he bowls through them, until one is left standing. But it isn’t any old security guard. They catch Lesnar off guard from behind… WITH A KINSHASA! NAKAMURA IS BACK! Nakamura gets revenge for the Rumble, laying into Lesnar with stiff Grounded Knee Strikes, before delivering another Kinshasa, knocking out Lesnar. He pulls out a steel chair, wanting to release all of his aggression, but he is stopped by more floods of security, who separate both men, escorting them out, allowing a battered-up Murphy to finally make it into his pod.

BUILD TO FASTLANE
Nakamura doesn’t show up the following SD, having also been temporarily suspended, but there is only so much time that Nakamura can wait on the sidelines, interrupting the following week’s show by running out through the crowd, demanding for Lesnar to come out. He gets no response, getting frustrated, beginning to berate the Beast Incarnate, calling him a coward. But Lesnar makes him eat his words, as he appears out of nowhere, attacking Nakamura. The two brawl around ringside, until the Kings of Wrestling appear, helping Lesnar take control, dominating Nakamura, tossing him into the ring steps with an F5, followed by putting him through the announcer’s table with another F5. At this point, security finally manages to hold back the trio and restrain them. An exclusive post-show video shows a concerned Bryan by Nakamura’s side, helping him being loaded into an ambulance.
After the assault, Bryan finally snaps on RAW, calling out Lesnar to deal with on his own, 1-on-1, wanting to avenge Nakamura, but the brawl goes the same way as SmackDown. KoW tip the numbers advantage in Lesnar’s favour, helping him dominate again, as even Rowan can’t help out. They still need a third man, but Rollins and Balor are occupied in their own business. As Lesnar gets ready to F5 Bryan through the table, who but NAKAMURA APPEARS! He jumps out of the back of an ambulance, ribs taped up, but runs down to the ring, helping Rowan dispatch of KoW, before helping Bryan take the triple team to Lesnar. They hold Lesnar up, allowing Bryan to hit him with the RUNNING KNEE, followed by a KINSHASA from Nakamura, and a CHOKESLAM THROUGH THE TABLE by Rowan! Finally, the odds are evened against Lesnar, and Nakamura has taken up Bryan’s offer!
The following RAW is kicked off by Heyman, Lesnar and KoW, who stand in the ring, which has been surrounded by extra security. Heyman reprimands Bryan, Nakamura and Rowan, claiming that they have been a thorn in his side for months upon months, and now, he’ll have to do something about it. But before he can speak anymore, the titantron displays live feed of Heyman’s office, occupied by Bryan, Nakamura and Rowan, who start pouring gasoline over the place, before threatening Heyman to give them Lesnar in a match, or they’ll burn the whole place down! Heyman drops to his knees, begging for them to stop. Nakamura produces the lighter, ready to light the place, unless Heyman speaks up. Heyman starts exclaiming that they can have Lesnar, but only if they beat KoW first at Fastlane. Bryan and Nakamura consider it, before agreeing to it, nonetheless leaving the office in tatters, whilst satisfied by the measures.

Fastlane
The Kings of Wrestling make their entrance first, followed by the team of Shinsuke Nakamura and the Universal Champion, Daniel Bryan. As expected, the four technical and striking based competitors tear the house down in a classic tag team match. Nakamura & Bryan start off hot, using the crowd’s energy to keep them going and keep back the established tag team. But eventually, experience reigns supreme, and KoW work over Nakamura’s injured ribs, before knocking him down with European Uppercuts and Forearms, followed by a ROYAL BOMB for a near fall. Eventually, Nakamura makes the comeback, using combination strikes to fire back at Cesaro & Ohno, before making the hot tag to Bryan. The Beard runs wild on his opponents, delivering multiple corner dropkicks, before Bryan & Nakamura both unload with Shoot Kicks, and a Roundhouse to knock out their opponents. In the closing moments of the match, Bryan leaps off of the top rope, but is caught by Cesaro with the SWISS DEATH! He tags in Ohno, and they land the K.R.S O.N.E! 1…2…NAKAMURA BREAKS IT UP WITH A KINSHASA! Nakamura brings in a flurry of knee strikes to hold back Cesaro, before turning his attention to Ohno. He drags Bryan to the corner and tags himself in, ducking a Hero’s Welcome, before hitting a REAR KINSHASA, AS BRYAN HITS A RUNNING KNEE AT THE SAME TIME! 1…2…3! Nakamura and Bryan have defeated KoW! They send their foes packing, before celebrating in the ring, shaking hands. As Nakamura leaves the ring, a distracted Bryan is caught off guard by a SHOTGUN DROPKICK BY BALOR! He’s finished off with a COUP DE GRACE, with Balor letting Bryan know that he should focus on him, rather than Lesnar.

BUILD TO WRESTLEMANIA
With the tag match won, the date with Lesnar is set up… or so Nakamura hoped. After Bryan became busy with Balor, Nakamura is forced to go it alone in his fight with the Beast Incarnate. The following night on RAW, he goes to Heyman’s office, asking whether the match has been made official or not. Heyman responds nervously, saying that there are a few complications, so Lesnar may not be free, but Nakamura doesn’t want to hear it, threatening to hit Heyman with a Kinshasa. The Advocate, out of fear for his safety, makes the match official for WrestleMania. Nakamura smirks and walks off, having done his job. However, as he leaves the office, he’s jumped by Lesnar, who F5s him onto the concrete, before slamming his head into the walls, shouting at him, and then hits another F5 to leave him lying. A contract signing is announced for next week’s SD.
On SD, Heyman does his usual spiel, introducing Brock Lesnar. Nakamura comes out next to sign the contract, fired up and laser focused. Heyman puts over the former IWGP Heavyweight Champion, saying that he’s on a level close to Lesnar, referencing to the fact that they were both inducted into the WON HOF the same year, and also fought before in the main event of the Tokyo Dome show over a decade ago. But he claims that as great as Nakamura has become since then, things haven’t changed, and the result will stay the same, except, in front of twice the crowd. The King will be conquered by the Conqueror. And that is not a prediction, that is a SPOILER. Nakamura, unfazed, responds, recounting the story of his loss to Lesnar and the disgust he felt towards Lesnar. He used to respect him, but when he realised how he treated wrestling, he was disappointed. From that day on, he promised not to become anything like Lesnar. And at WM, the King will rise and put down his unfaithful disciple, crushing his nightmare from over a decade ago. Nakamura signs the contract, followed by Lesnar, but Heyman announces that Nakamura didn’t read the fine print… it will be NO DQ! He mockingly wishes Nakamura good luck at surviving the Beast. As Lesnar chuckles with schadenfreude, Nakamura takes the opportunity to soar over the table and knock back Lesnar with a KINSHASA! He starts wailing on Lesnar with Grounded Knee Strikes, sending the former UFC competitor packing, finally standing tall as he heads into WM.

WrestleMania 36
On an undoubtedly stacked and brilliant card, Nakamura and Lesnar look to ramp up the fire. Nakamura makes his grand entrance first, accompanied by the masses of violinists; the soft sounds juxtaposing the brutality that will ensue. Nakamura is decked out in Aguilar de Nerha inspired gear, swaggering down to the ring with confidence, with blades on his arms. He’s followed by Lesnar, who is not accompanied by Heyman, who fears for his safety out there between two former MMA competitors with severe bad blood, leaving Lesnar to saunter down the ramp. But things kick off straight away, as Nakamura flings himself over the top rope with a CORKSCREW PLANCHA! They trade knee strikes, brawling around the ringside area. Lesnar manhandles Nakamura, tossing him back into the ring. Lesnar lands shoulder thrusts in the corner. Nakamura tries to fight, but Lesnar starts pummelling him, tossing Nakamura from one corner to another and keeps stomping and pounding. Lesnar runs in with a knee strike, but Nakamure avoids it, hitting an Axe Kick and a Roundhouse Kick, followed by consecutive High Knees in the corner. He sets up Lesnar laying on the turnbuckle, before uncorking a knee to his gut, sending Lesnar crashing to the outside. Nakamura tries to use the steel steps but Lesnar runs into them, bowling Nakamura to the floor. Lesnar charges at Nakamura, but Nakamura sends his skull into the ring post, before unloading with kendo stick shots. Lesnar absorbs the shots, cracking the stick in two, before tossing Nakamura across the announcers table. He then throws him into a TV monitor, before crunching him through the table cover, repeatedly stomping it onto Nakamura until it snaps.
Lesnar delivers a Belly to Back Suplex into the Steel Steps, before sending Nakamura back into the ring. Nakamura tries to fight back with kicks to the legs, but Lesnar drops him with a single right hook. He tries to squeeze the life out of Nakamura with a bearhug, but Nakamura fights out with elbows, until Lesnar cuts him off with a big knee to the gut. Lesnar yells at Nakamura to stay down, but Nakamura is defiant. Lesnar unloads with 4 GERMAN SUPLEXES, but as he goes for a fifth, Nakamura somehow escapes. Nakamura drops Lesnar to one knee, trying for a Shining Wizard, but Lesnar catches him in mid-air and nails an OVERHEAD BELLY TO BELLY SUPLEX! Lesnar scoops Nakamura and drops his ribs over his knees. Lesnar delivers a rough Powerslam and goes for a pin, but Nakamura kicks out. Nakamura fights back, countering a Powerbomb attempt into a DDT! Nakamura unloads with Grounded Knee Strikes, followed by Forearm shots. Lesnar stumbles around dazed, until Nakamura comes off the top rope with a REAR KINSHASA and Lesnar goes down! Nakamura tosses Lesnar into the corner and gets the Good Vibrations, before unloading some of his own GERMAN SUPLEXES, getting a bridge on the third for 2. Nakamura nails a couple of high knees in the corner, but Lesnar blocks the third high knee and scoops him up for a F5. Nakamura slides out and nails a ROUNDHOUSE KICK, followed by a Stepover Spinning Heel Kick. He then hits a LANDSLIDE NECKBREAKER for 2! Nakamura calls for the Landslide, but Lesnar slides out. Nakamura escapes out of an F5 attempt and nails another Roundhouse Kick to send Lesnar down. He flies across the ring for a Kinshasa, but Lesnar jumps up to deliver a HIGH KNEE! Lesnar locks in the KIMURA LOCK, but Nakamura uses his MMA experience and counters it into a CROSS ARMBREAKER! Lesnar tries to turn it around, but Nakamura gets him in the SHINING TRIANGLE! Lesnar powers up and nails a big powerbomb, but Nakamura still has the triangle applied when they hit the mat. Lesnar struggles not to tap and finally breaks the triangle, using his free forearm to nail Nakamura repeatedly in the face.
Lesnar goes for another powerbomb, but Nakamura hits elbows while up in the air. Lesnar shrugs them off and hits the RUNNING SITOUT POWERBOMB! Lesnar starts to uncork more GERMAN SUPLEXES, putting a forearm in Nakamura's face, as he covers for 2 ½. Lesnar goes outside the ring and grabs a chair, but turns around to a FLYING KNEE FROM NAKAMURA, SENDING THE CHAIR INTO LESNAR’S FACE! Nakamura grabs the chair and smacks Lesnar in the back a few times. He then goes under the ring, unveiling NUNCHUKS, which he uses to batter Lesnar with! He slides the chair back into the ring, before setting Lesnar on the apron, delivering a GUILLOTINE KNEE DROP! He throws Lesnar back into the ring and sets up the chair, before picking up Lesnar onto his shoulders, delivering a LANDSLIDE THROUGH THE CHAIR! 1…2…KICK OUT! Nakamura gets up and pulls out NINJA STARS FROM HIS GEAR! As he gets ready to spike Lesnar, the Conqueror gets up, bowling Nakamura over with the steel chair! Lesnar drives the chair into Nakamura’s injured ribs, before slamming his spine! Lesnar lifts up Nakamura for the F5, but Nakamura slips behind and locks in a REAR NAKED CHOKE! He doesn’t have enough left in him though, allowing Lesnar to drive Nakamura back into the turnbuckles, before biel tossing him across the ring! He then takes off his gloves, before mounting Nakamura for the ground and pound, staining his gear crimson! Lesnar lifts up Nakamura again for the F5, this time sending blood flying everywhere, but as he releases, NAKAMURA LANDS ON HIS FEET! HE DELIVERS A REAR KINSHASA, VIOLENTLY JERKING LESNAR’S HEAD INTO THE MAT! NAKAMURA GOES CRAZY WITH THE CHAIR TO THE BACK, BEFORE HITTING ANOTHER REAR KINSHASA! Nakamura goes to his corner, rattling the ropes like a madman. He lets out one final battle cry, synchronised with the fans, before hitting a third KINSHASA! 1…2…3! The Conqueror has been conquered by the King of Strong Style! After a bloody match, Nakamura celebrates in the ring, wiping off his blood, before limping off to the back, away from the carnage in the ring.
